mendal Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 I know you don't get exp when confused enemies do all the damage on a kill but do you get inf, salvage, and other rewards?
n00baka Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Nope, you get no rewards at all unless you participate in the defeating. Not a terribly unreasonable stance on it either, in my opinion.
_NOPE_ Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 The last I heard, the chance to get all of the other non-XP rewards follows the same percentage curve as the XP rewards curve. Thus, if a certain mob has a 50% chance to drop a certain salvage, but you only did 50% of the damage to the mob directly yourself (because of Confused mobs doing the other 50%), you'd get a 50*0.8 or a 40% chance for that salvage to drop. All of the other rolls would have the same modifier. So, it's not THAT bad. Certainly worth using Confuse wherever possible if you're squishy! I'm out.
AmishJustice Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Confuse works best on whomever got through your initial holds. Enemy charging you? Confuse em and watch them walk back into your hold with their friends. Love it!
oedipus_tex Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 A confused enemy works closely to the same way as a player from another party delivering damage. XP is divied up based on the amount of damage caused by players in each party. You don't get XP for damage done by other parties. Drops work the same way. You can get drops only if you deliver some of the damage.
Adeon Hawkwood Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 So according to the wiki (which I believe is still correct) only 25% of the damage done by a confused critter counts when calculating rewards. https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Confuse_(Status_Effect) So for example lets say an enemy has 200 HP, you deal 100 damage and a confused critter deals the remaining 100. For XP purposes 75% of the damage the critter does is ignored meaning that you receive XP as if you had done 100 damage to a critter with 125 HP (instead of 200). So you will receive 80% of the normal XP rewards. Defender Smash!

Overclock Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Yeah, 80% rewards for 50% of the work means you get through 2x the normal number of mobs with the same damage out, yielding 160% xps over time compared to not using Confuse. (A 160% xps rate presumes a steady stream of mobs in, like on an good farm map - actual results will vary, but the overall point about Confuse yielding more xps rather than less holds true in a lot of cases.) 1
