Solo SR/Rad Build Advice

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm hoping for feedback on my SR/Rad tanker respec build. I've been very happy with Miss Amazing's progress through 50, achieved yesterday, except for her ST damage. This respec build keeps her current soft-capped defenses, close to her current RES levels, and her same regen. Additionally, I took Assault and prioritized damage set bonuses, resulting in +45% damage (better than her current +9%). Also, I want to up my notoriety a bit. I play +1/x6 mostly, but would like to go higher, and so took both Tactics and Focused Accuracy to be able to hit higher level enemies. Lastly, so many toggles... I added a lot of END recharge. I have three "chance for +END" procs, plus 3-slot Stamina and 2-slot Physical Perfection.

I'm really wondering if I'm wasting my time getting so much +DAM? I think I leave a bunch of RES on the table, and maybe I'm better off just combining inspirations into reds and getting damage that way. Also, I'm not sure I can support so many toggles; maybe I should choose just one between Tactics and Focused Accuracy? Lastly, I know nothing about Incarnate slots or powers (level 50 yesterday, remember), so maybe those influence my lower level choices?

I'd love to hear your ideas. Thanks in advance!

You don't need Tactics or the Kismet to keep 95%+ to hit chance.  In the planner, Options->Configuration->Exemping and Base Values, set the Base ToHit at 39% (base to hit vs +4 mobs).  Without either Tactics or Kismet, just Focused Accuracy, you are at minimum 99% to hit.  FA gives a ton of to-hit-debuff protection, too, so you are golden with that.

I would pick up Combat Jumping using that free pick from dropping Tactics.  It is very cheap on end, and gives a nice little bit of bonus defense.

Here's my take on SR/Rad. Waiting to accumulate more stuff & the tanker changes before pulling the trigger on a respec - my guy is only at 29 but so far plays pretty well on mostly basic IOs. Comparatively I'm posting higher defenses (hits incarnate content softcaps w/o incarnate buffs) but that comes at the expense of +damage bonii. The rest is pretty close I think.

I have a lvl 50 SR/Rad Tanker specifically built to deal ST damage with decent resistances, alternating Melee Hybrid and Rune of Protection. The build does roughly 210 DPS on T3 incarnates, running a simple attack chain of Devastating Blow -> Radiation Siphon -> Radioactive Smash -> Contaminated Strike. Destiny is Ageless.

This character soloes +4/x8 fine even if not very fast at it, and has tanked STF Recluse and the LRSF final 7 with some inspiration use.

Cool, I didn't know you could do that in the designer. You saved me a power and a slot, which is non-trivial. Thanks!

I like what you've done with the procs. I suppose irradiated ground does a lot more damage slotted like that? To my uneducated eye, your build looks like it might have END problems, but maybe not with certain Incarnate choices? Ageless? I don't have any Incarnate slots open, and I don't really understand the system, so perhaps I should learn more before respeccing for my final build. I'd hate to build a lot of +END only to turn out I don't need it!

You're right on the money!

The left branch of Ageless gives enormous amounts of recovery, to the point caring about endurance at all becomes optional for all but the end hungriest builds.

Provided, of course, you're fine with your optimal performance limited to level 45+ (under which we don't get incarnate levels). I ought to have mentioned that.

I like that with /Rad, we're provided with a hefty heal plugging that hole in SR. Which... really doesn't have any other hole. So this makes (in my opinion) Ageless a very attractive pick, solving end woes and giving freedom to overload on procs.

I'm not entirely sure of the mechanics of Irradiated Ground, but I've heard from people smarter than me procs are quite effective in it; and indeed, my own limited testing seems to show good proc action.
