Some of the restrictions on costumes are pretty bad. Not being able to have 2 different shoulder armors for example. Or not being able to wear the tech knight chest detail on bare skin. Was there ever a mod for this?

I mean, there are NPCs with options that we dont have, so it has to be possible. Like that giant bad guy in the armor with the scorpion tail.

There are some new costume parts in the i25 client, I've noticed.  I'm sure more mods are not far off, even if they don't become "official" content.  But I wouldn't set my expectations too high.  Each part of the costume has a "slot" it fits in, and there are only so many slots to choose from.  Putting new textures in the slots that already exist might not be too complicated, thus we have carnie corsets and yakuza tops, etc.  But adding a second "slot" to the "Shoulder Detail" section to accommodate separate shoulder armors is far more complex.

It was done once before when tails were taken out of the "Belts" section and given their own slot.  Possibly before that as well, but that would have been before my time in game.  I don't know what it entails.  It might be cake or it might not even be worth thinking about.

There are a few things that I think might be accidental or oversights.  I don't know why tech knight wouldn't work with bare skin.  I don't understand why most of the gloves are unavailable for trenchcoats even when you pick the short sleeves.  I know some things they restricted due to nasty clipping or other glitchiness, but some of them don't really make sense to me.  With any luck those types of things are easier to deal with and can be remedied.

All that being said, and as much as I loooooooove costuming, I know the people working on this have waaaaaaay more important things to deal with getting the servers stable and the gameplay bugs worked out before they start dealing with vanity. So patience. ;)

I feel ya. I love making characters. The ONLY good thing about champs online besides some of the travel power designs was the costume creator. Other MMOs need to steal champs creator. Imagine a medieval fantasy or blade and soul type game or black desert online but you can make your own shit.

But as far as CoX is concerned, yeah, it would be amazing if one day these little over sights could be fixed by the community.

I did love CO's creator, except the face.  I wished there had been more ways to vary the face.  I'm actually looking forward to seeing what City of Titans does with theirs.

Some of the Lost options would be interesting.  They definitely have that post-apocalyptic mutant scheme to them.

The problem is getting the permissions for such mods to affect other people.  Even if I managed to convince my local client to project the television helmet on my character, I'd be the only one who saw it.  If pushed those visuals in to another head piece's slot, then I'd see it on THEM, too.

Blizzard banned people who modded their own local client to adjust visuals to suit their preferences.  Of course, part of this led to some extreme cheating opportunities like skipping 95% of a raid, so that is where most of the problem lies along with a lot of PvP annoyances.  So, it wouldn't be an avenue I would pursue.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

Unfortunately, being able to wear two different shoulder pads would pretty much require completely re-writing the costume system. Asymmetrical customization just wasn't built into it, and a simple mod won't change that.
