Psi/Kin is it bad? I have not seen anything on the forums..

I am wanting to build a Psi/Kin, but I am curious to what you all think.  Also I may need a bit of help with the build as well.  Never been to sharp at them.  I think it would be a decent Corr.  Thoughts?

There isn't a whole lot of synergy between Kin and Psi blast. Psi Blast's bonus is extra range and Kin wants to be up close and personal. Psi also doesn't provide very good mitigation, something Kinetics sorely lacks, and the reason Kinetics is so popular among Controllers, who have a whole primary devoted to making Kinetics safe to use.

 

That said, the Psi Blast nuke is PBAoE, so at least there is that.

So, as has been said there isn't much synergy between psi and kjn, but there isn't much synergy with any primary really. A fire/kin kinda has synergy with the dots being buffed to the cap too, but is that really synergy? Is it more than the sum of it's parts? Maybe I guess, every other set is just going to bring whatever tools they have to kin and kin is going to bring damage. A 🔥/🏃 will always do the most dmg though.

 

That being said, a psi/kin will work just fine. Kin does well with any pairing, except knockdown heavy blast sets, but even those are manageable with IOs. You will be squishy without IO set bonuses so I always recommend taking combat jumping, maneuvers, and weave. Even in an IO build I typically take those actually. I'll try to get a leveling build and 50 build to you soon. In the meantime you can check out my Kintank thread on these forums for inspiration, there are a lot of iterations of builds in there.

In pairing with Kinetics, ideally you'd want to have a blast set with lots of AoE so that you can spread your buffed damage to as many enemies as possible.
