Claws Fort build critique

Recommended Posts

Hello forums,

I would like some feedback on my Fort widow build please. Shes built mainly for claws, with some of the strong psi abilities to support. My main concern is if I have too much DEF, and if so then I have wiggle room to make some changes.

Build Goal - My main goal is to be able to self farm for money if I need to, but still be a good team addition for endgame ITFs and missions. I am not sure if its possible for a Fortuna to "tank" per say, as I dont see any aggro tools, or any real built in ways to recover damage, but I don't want to be squishy either. (I dislike playing glass cannon setups.)

Perks -

-Perma Mind Link

- Bit of self heals with Aid Self + Rebirth Incarnate

- Great def vs all, solid res to start (before foresight begins)

Drawbacks -

-No travel powers

-over softcap(?)

Questions -

1. Am I wasting slots if I'm over the DEF cap?

2. If i have spare powers, is psychic scream or tornado worth picking up, or would I be better served with travel powers?

3. I don't have any mastery selected, as nothing really struck me as needed or standing out. Most things just add more attacks, and I have that covered already I believe?

Input is welcome! And thank you in advance to game veterans and number cruncher's for any insight or good options that I may have overlooked!

P.S. - not sure if its important, but I only play PVE, i rarely PVP at all, and when i do its usually with friends for a giggle. (Not sure if that's important or not.)

First of all, this build is so far over def caps that you don't even need to have Mind Link on to be at caps (a little shy of cap for AoE). The easy way out here without redoing the whole thing is obviously to drop Mind Link all together and choose a new power.
You could go with Psychic Tornado as it will cater more to your gameplay plan than Psychic Scream since it is a targeted AoE that doesn't need positioning to work, the glaring downside of this is that you weapons will redraw every time you use it and come back to your stabby powers.

Secondly you could pick up Confuse, a very good power that also stacks with Aura of Confusion to confuse Boss class enemies.

You could also go for a Travel Power if you are inclined but I usually skip them on my characters since I find them redundant in a world of 5k inf jetpacks, ninja run and base port.

@Seigmoraig- thank you for the feedback,

Not to second guess but are you sure you didn't have mask presence on? i was looking at my build after what you said and I noticed it was enabled. With it iff my defenses are around 45-52%, with positional's varying greatly between 58 and 78. With both mask presence and mind link off, my defense takes a nose dive down to the mid 20s on everything but melee. So I am guessing thats something we both missed? I do have it but I usually run with it off, more or less its a LOTG slot.

I am not sure what I might drop to pick up tornado or confuse either.

Thank you again for the reply!

Possibly some wonkiness with Mids, when I have both off I'm getting 53.6 melee 38 ranged and 33 aoe.

Also, why do you run with Mask Presence off ? in case you didn't know, when you are in combat it still gives a 3% all def, secondly it gives you first attack out of stealth a critical strike. So in essence the above numbers with mask presence on, while in combat you should be looking at 56.6 41 and 36 m/r/a defences.
Another change that I wouuld make to your build would be to add a Celerity: +Stealth IO to your Sprint. This combined with Mask Presence will give you a pretty much unbreakable stealth

Questions -

1. Am I wasting slots if I'm over the DEF cap?

Yes. You could remove 1 slot from Psychic Wail (or change for proc, 1 slot from aura of confusion, 1 slot from Dominate, and completely drop weave unless you want the extra cushion.

2. If i have spare powers, is psychic scream or tornado worth picking up, or would I be better served with travel powers?

My exemp build has a travel power due to content like numinas tf. Lv 50+ build (really 44+) does fine with ninja, jump pack, and flight pack. Depends what you want to do or if you feel you're lacking somewhere. If you need to slow down incoming dmg you can use psi tornado without reposition where as using scream you'd have to jump a good distance back for maximum spread(with chance for fear slotted for extra mitigation). If  Total Domination isn't required you may want to try the single target confuse, could stack quickly onto bosses with AoC, or on its own... if confuse/xp rate doesn't bother you.

3. I don't have any mastery selected, as nothing really struck me as needed or standing out. Most things just add more attacks, and I have that covered already I believe?

Not necessary. I've become a recent advocate of RoP though ❤️ ❤️
