At level 40 with Farsight you could be at or over softcap with proper slotting and power choices.  Base defense from Farsight is 9.375 on a controller, so you gave it maybe one slot?

Isn't the defence softcap 45%? And from what I gathered from the wiki, defence enhancements start to proliferate at 40%. I am not sure how I can get to the soft cap. Or do you mean with inspirations? My Farisght is currently at 3 slots, 2 for recharge and 1 for defence enhancement. All SO.

At ED max slotting in Farsight, you would have 14.6% defense. If you take Power Boost at 44, you can increase this to 22.9%. Fully slotted Weave, Maneuvers and Combat Jumping would provide an additional 14.6%. The Steadfast Protection and Gladiator's Armor +def uniques would add another 6%, getting you to 43.5%. Slotting IO sets with defense bonuses would more than make up the difference. Hitting the softcap at 40 without Power Boost would require more set bonuses but it's quite doable.

I am not getting Weave and Combat Jumping. Maneuvers is on my "maybe" list.
