Hey folks!

I was very thrilled to learn that City of Heroes wasn't dead after all, and I've been dabbling around with a few characters that I've come up with since the original server closures.

One of those characters is a Ninja/Traps mastermind. I never got very far as an MM in the old days, but I'm enjoying him from a fluff point of view and he's currently my highest level character. I'm having some trouble when it comes to finding information on the power sets to put together a build, however.

Would anyone be able to lend a hand? A build would be fantastic if anyone has one lying around, but any general advice people could pass along on the two power sets etiher individually or together would be very much appreciated.

Cheers!

Thanks, plainguy!

Just wondering, Is there a reason you skipped over detonator?

Hello. Played a ton of PvP/AV content w ninja trap on live. Do not underslot provoke:) That looks like a totally solid build.

Tips: give your insps to your pets. Email yourself insps. Especially for TF/SFs. Spam provoke. Spam smoke flash on Oni. Critting Oni is (very)nice. Caltrops stack with your pets caltrops, webnade nicely.

Mace Mastery has some great trap symmetry's as well.

Once you get to your defense/resist levels, proc out.

Spam temp power attacks all day. Grenade, Plasmatic taser will add DPS to your game, keep aggro on you along with provoke.

Get your accolades, they make a huge difference with MMs. Consider ageless to get those traps out.

Ordee your Tier 2 pets to attack bosses and tough foes. The confuse attack is silly fun. With the others in BG, tough, FFG Mez protection, you should shred thru AVs and content.

Because it really, really, really, really and one more time.. Really sucks..

Please read my petless mastermind thread related to my Robot Traps last pet only..

It was really useless. It blows up the pet and for crappy damage.  I was picking it up for thematic reasons.. Was gonna do make up some emotes before I blew him up. But when testing I was so annoyed..

To add on to this:

With the way detonator is currently coded in the game, anything slotted into the power itself doesn't really enhance anything.  Once detonator is used on a henchmen, the henchmen's own enhancements will take over and enhance the damage/accuracy of the bomb.  So, in case you would like to take detonator for fun/thematic reasons, do not not waste any slots on the power except for one recharge IO.  If you feel that the power itself is a practical ability to have in your arsenal, give it a test run, but buy a respec before hand....  plainguy is 100% correct with his assessment.

There is good advice in this thread, I personally would add fistful of arrows and maybe swap out at least all the slots in seeker drones for fistful of arrows. Provoke on an MM is very effective but I like more than one option to draw attention to my character.

Some players make their characters all about them, if it doesn't help them, they don't want it, their build advice to you will ofcourse be about making your character the best thing that helps them too if they ever team with you, because it's always about them.
