SenpaiEdgelod Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 If I were going to use the Bane pool for a a Huntsman, this almost exactly how I would build it as well. Very tight build, and it ticks all of the boxes (perma-Haste, capped Defenses). If you can stand having the legs, the Crab pool offers some really good tools for survivability, and Omega Maneuver on preference (I don't personally care for it). If you're willing to split off even further from the defacto Huntsman in this direction, Suppression is worth taking. Either way, I like your build. I think the Rifle is often overlooked for the slower (and lower DPA) Crab variants (yes, I know, energy damage vs S/L). The -Res is super nasty, and in my opinion, the best debuff one can have in this game, especially for teaming. If I were to change anything, I'd scrap Call Reinforcement, mostly off of preference. You should be proud of this build.
Solvernia Posted May 27, 2019 Posted May 27, 2019 you did a lot of things right but also a lot of things wrong: three-slotting hasten is a waste, put two in and boost them to 50+5, same effect after ED why did you six-slot build up why did you take both bane and wolf armor where is your shatter/placate, where are any of your melee attacks, you're wasting the best effect of cloaking device tactical training leadership and tactics are both objectively useless unless you PVP why are you double stacking tactics why did you take CJ and SS but not SJ seriously, ditch the two tactics and take shatter/placate instead. either take super jump or don't take superspeed, SS is useless without vertical mobility, which CJ does not give you enough of. (p.s. Ninja Run+Sprint is perfectly fine and costs 0 power slots and enhancements) slotting Reactive Defences' proc makes wolf spider armor completely irrelevant, you can afford to six-slot it in place of LotG also slot Unbreakable Guard proc in bane armor, max HP is direct damage reduction from all sources shatter armor in mace mastery is a guaranteed -20% res and does hilarious amounts of damage (no crit tho) you can also pick up call blaster in mace mastery. my bane has all 4 of his non-incarnate pets (2 disruptors, 1 blaster, and a crab from backup radio) perma'd. masterminds HATE him 4-slotting recharge pet IOs in both call blaster and call reinforcements will get you an easier 6.25% recharge bonus than slotting posi's blast (which is trash), don't bother slotting resist/defense auras unless you absolutely have the slots to spare, they don't make enough of a difference if you're worried about the mace not fitting your wolf spider huntsman theme:

Solvernia Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 my thoughts: if you are really dead-set on taking tactical training leadership, at least put the +perception proc in it. on my bane, where i regularly fight level 54 tsoo/BP/CoT in astoria, the only situation in which i have ever needed to use tactics was in PVP, and even then only for the +perception build up ONLY needs the gaussian proc + one or two recharges to taste, you can get the set bonuses from gaussian elsewhere more effectively six-slot tactical training maneuvers with reactive defences, you want the 8.75% recharge and 10% resist five-slot heavy burst with superior spider's bite for the +10% recharge. you DEFINITELY want the global toxic proc as well as the 10% recharge five-slot venom grenade with superior dominion of arachnos, you want the chance for -damage and terrorize diamagnetic interface is not that good, take degenerative radial for the -max HP and toxic proc (which even fits thematically with SoA) support hybrid is not that good because of the 50% uptime, take assault radial for the global doublehit proc recall friend is ok but you can get 999 prestige teleport powers, get super jump instead so you have some actual vertical mobility

That gives you the benefit of another LOTG slot, and Combat Jumping even lets you slot another Zephyr KB protection.

The real reason for the difference can be boiled down to this ... Ranged Blaster with Auras versus Stalker Knockoff. More specifically ... the reason to go Bane is for the melee attacks. The reason to go Huntsman is for the ranged attacks. You basically wind up specializing in one or the other depending on your playstyle preferences (standoff distance vs up close and personal). Banes really "want to be" melee fighters, even though they do have some ranged attack options, but for the most part those ranged options available to Banes are inferior to their melee attack options. For handheld gun toting Huntsman, it's the opposite. Huntsman really "wants to be" a ranged attacker, even though they have some melee attack options, but for the most part those melee options available to Soldiers of Arachnos are inferior to their ranged attack options, particularly once you can Hover/Mystic Flight/Fly so as to attack from mid-air where it's difficult for mobs to attack you while giving you a clear field of view to hose them down. The other big advantage is that the basic gun attacks (as opposed to Mace or Crab Backpack) used by the Huntsman are actually pretty quick to animate ... so much so that you can use 6 attack animations out of the handheld gun in the time it takes to animate 5 attacks out of the Crab Backpack (for example). This results in a "smarter" and more responsive "feel" to how the character plays. And, of course, for some people, weapon redraw is A Thing™ they want to avoid (as much as possible/practical). Your mileage may vary, of course. Verbogeny is one of many pleasurettes afforded a creatific thinkerizer.
