Bishido1 Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Hey everyone, I have dinged my Katana/WP up to 50 today and realized how underwhelming my build is, even with a decent amount of trial and error I am now on my 4th rebuild and its still pretty awful. Anyone of you have a Katana/WP build lying around that you could share with me? ill link my build below, i took too many attacks and i really don't like having a taunt. ZenBlade.mxd
Six-Six Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 Sorry. I am unable to view MIDs files. I will hazard a few general advice: WP is quite strong even when it's minimally slotted. the only drawback of WP that gets me is that it's toggle heavy, so a lot of end drain. For this reason, I take full advantage of High Pain tolerance, which is on auto and costs no end. The others, I tend to slot 2, 3 or 4 just to manage the end consumption of the toggle (plus get a few set bonuses in the process). Depending on the toon, I may choose between Fast Healing and Rise, or both. I like slotting the full set of Preventive Medicine on one of these. If I take both, I just use it to free up some slots from Health. Quick Recovery is awesome with just a Perf Shifter proc, although if I have spare slots, I put in the new end mod (+chance to heal) which also have nice 2pc and 3pc set bonuses. I rarely take Resurgence (since I don't plan on dying that often, when I do, an insp or temp power from P2W or a day job accolade can do the trick). I don't like the end crash of Strength of Will, so I rarely take the T9 as well. WP has a nice balance of Res and Def. But being in the front lines, you'll want to supplement this with power pools. I like Combat Jumping because it barely costs any end, plus it allows you to take Spring Attack later, if that's your thing. More on the power pools, you can choose between Tough + Weave (though it comes at a cost of a power pick you'll likely never use--though I like slotting either box or kick with a 2pc set bonus, just so it's not entirely useless) or Maneuvres. I think Weave AND Maneuvres is too much, but that may be just me. Assault and Tactics are automatic. I like to put the whole set of Gaussian in Tactics for the awesome full set bonus, if slots allow. This leaves you with power picks. On any melee, I never take the primary Taunt. Instead, I opt for the Presence Power Pool's Provoke which is basically the same thing. Doing this allows me to take Relentless later. I like how the Katana power works and usually take everything (aside from the Taunt). How you slot it depends on how you play. Enjoy. and Good luck. Bishido1 Posted July 28, 2020 Author Posted July 28, 2020 Thank you so much for the help, I'm working in tactics to the build now and working on taking some slots away from some of my toggle to spread the slot wealth to other powers.
Six-Six Posted July 28, 2020 Posted July 28, 2020 I may be a rarity, but I've never been a fan of Hasten. instead, I like Adrenaline Boost from experimentation. on melee toons, I take Speed of Sound which, with a macro or bind, tp's you to the next enemy alive and so far it's the fastest animating tp there is. beats running after them. Speed of Sound does have a rather high end cost. so I turn of sprint and slot Speed of Sound with 3-4 slots of Celerity + Universal travel IOs focusing on the end and set bonuses. Adrenaline boost with just 2 slots of the Adjusted Targeting (rech, to-hit/rech) gives additional global damage. You need to pick injection or toxic dart. either one is good depending on how you play. if the toon solo's a lot, toxic dart is a nice little range toy to "get the enemy's attention" one at a time instead of a group like provoke or taunt... if you want to break up a mob that's too big by whittling the edges. 😃 1 My Toons
