Spines/ice brute

Anyone ever mess with these sets together? Started one thinking it might work well together, thoughts?

To be frank, performance wise, /Ice is one of the worst armor sets.  Almost all the other armor sets perform better

It can be pricey but you can push your defense up to the 45% soft cap. Maybe consider a Spines/Ice Scrapper.  The Scrapper Tier 9 gives good resistances for when you experience cascading Defense Debuffs.

 

I find the armor set fun to play, with a slow aura, damage aura, Dull Pain/Heal, End Recovery ability. 

I like the Scrapper version more than the old Tank play style where once you get into trouble you pop Hibernate and wait it out.
