River Rat Badge

So I have Vidiot Maps, and on 2 different toons I went to each area to get the River Rat Badge, but I was not awarded anything. I even went over bridged, around boats, and circled the area 2-3 times and nothing was awarded.  Has anyone else had this problem?

It is super easy to miss one of the badges.  It took me three times of carefully going around the areas to be finally get it awarded.

My best suggestion - click the tiny button that separates the map from the nav bar. Move it so that you can open up the Badges - closest to completion section is displayed. 

This way, you can monitor your progress as you go. I'd go over the marker, not get progress, I'd know to circle the area in tiny circles until I see the progress bar move. Only then do I proceed.

Great advice.  Basically how I finally got it awarded as well.
