Screenshots for your Profile Avatar?

New to PC and COH and I have to say im loving the game so far. Never been so attached to a character you feel like is your very own creation. To be more into the community and show my Villain off, Im trying to get a picture of my character for my profile on here like some others. if anyone can help I would appreciate it.  :)

I found I could upload a 60x60 pic.  Have no idea if I can use a larger pic by hosting it somewhere else and linking to it.

Do you have access to MS-Paint or a similar photo editing program?  I have found that you can capture an image of your character in higher detail from the character select screen by hitting PrtSce like you'd do to take a regular screenshot.  This won't take a screenshot on that screen, but it will copy an image of the screen to the keyboard which you can then paste into your photo editor to crop and save.

The limit is 65x65, and yes you can bypass that by hosting externally, but the forum will autosize everything to 65x65.

I keep getting the error: "The avatar you have selected is either too large or not an avatar."

 

Not sure what the problem is.  The forum doesn't seem to be autosizing.  I cropped it down to 65x65 but that still didn't work.

I ended up hosting mine on Imgur.

 

I also found my old forum avatar out on the net, so I got that going for me...

Just how you did yours Knight, did you just simply take a photo then emailed to your self because PRNT SC button is not working for me?

The printscreen button, when you use it in-game (after you login to your character and enter a gamemap), automatically sticks a screenshot in the CoH folder/screenshots folder. In the character creator, printscreen just copies the screen to the clipboard. You can then paste it into Paint or whatever editing program you use.

What a great tip! Plus in the character creator/tailor screen you can change the background lighting to bring out your character as well as rotate to profile if desired. So helpful, thanks!

Also you might have to lower the file size, when saving it as jpeg lower the 65x65 to med instead of high and that will lower the size of the file
