Marshal_General
I never managed to get very far with a VEAT of any type since they introduced them, but I want to try again. Gulbasaur
First of all do do you need the Fighting power pool? Widows have scaling damage resists that don't show up in the build planner so are sturdier than they appear - as your health goes down, you resists go up. It's like the Reactive Defences IO, but much better and you get it twice. From another post, to illustrate: (CT:O should say CT:D) Spoiler From a different build: (ignore the low psi resistance - I didn't have a buff on - psi resists are usually high) At 50% health, you'll be getting about 20% global resists from CT:D and Foresight together (with a further 5% from Reactive Defences). This is from my blood fortunado build - it's worth reading that whole thread as there is a lot of good advice, even if most of it leans towards fortunatas. Speaking of which, having played both I found Night Widows to play like old-style stalkers, whereas Fortunatas are definitely more their own thing, playing somewhere between a dominator and a scrapper. Do have a look at fortunata builds - they trade out some of the big-hitting melee attacks for a lot of utility, notably holds and confuses. You're slightly limited by the slim choice of "humans with training" pool powers, I realise. Canonically, all Soldiers of Arachnos and Widows are psychic (SoA's basically brainwash themselves), but you could look into the Experimentation power pool for buffs, or the medicine pool (high defence means you rarely get interrupted). Marshal_General
The scaling does show up in the build planner. It is a slider under Foresight that I had wondered what it was for. I tweaked the build a little. According to the beta dps calculator, if I use follow up-lunge-slash-follow up-lunge as an attack chain, I can get 558 dps using 4.89 eps. I picked up aid self though I would kind of like to get it earlier, but I am not sure I could move anything around. This is the newest build. I agree with the assessment by Operative @Gulbasaur. This is just my attitude: I found that the final Fortunata path allows for more of a unique play experience, whereas my Night Widow build felt very much like a Stalker... but without access to most of the things that make Stalkers REALLY NASTY. I will add that while leveling up my (now favorite) Fortunata, I had set up two different builds simultaneously and I used the Night Widow build for a significant amount of content after level 24. Of course, the BEST thing about the VEAT IMO is that if you want different play-styles, you can use the alternate builds to try something else without having to level up a completely different character. On each build you WILL have to confront the mandatory respec at level 24, so just be aware of that and set aside enough time to deal with that.

I am a HUGE fan of Unrelenting from the Presence Pool, both as an option to self-heal and to boost offense. The problem is that you have to get stuck taking at least one other power that will be of limited utility. I suggest dropping the three powers from the Medicine pool and go with: Provoke: I like having a Taunt on (positional) Defense characters, and the multi-target (albeit with a ToHit Check) is much more useful in almost all situations than Confront. Plus, if you can spare the slots Mocking Beratement is a great set, otherwise Accuracy is good enough. (I could not spare the slots on my Night Widow) Pacify: This power is mostly useless, unless you are specifically soloing EB/AV and want a breather. The single-target fear is slightly more useful, but if you explicitly don't want it (and won't be generating Fear effects through the ATO) I suppose this is your choice. Unrelenting: Go ahead and 6-slot it with Preventive Medicine. On my Night Widow build, I have Provoke (level 16), Intimidate (level 18) and Unrelenting (level 30) I also want to point out that Combat Training Defensive is an Auto power, making it a very good spot to drop the Kismet: Accuracy (really +ToHit) piece. EDIT: I want to note that the Pacify from the presence pool DOES NOT WORK like Placate. You will not get a chance at a Critical bonus from it. If playing lower-level content is a priority for the OP, that is a point in the widow's favor.

I was having a very hard time mid levels with extreme endurance issues. It has been a year from the last time I played on homecoming has the dev team done any tuning to this class? tidge
Warning: I have a Widow that uses two different builds and two different bodies/costumes. One build is the ranged/AoE/Control Fortunata, and the other half is the Night Widow. These were intended to be complimentary, but I found that I wanted ranged sets on the Night Widow for set bonuses, so I ended up with some attacks on the Night Widow that don't precisely fit my concept of that half of the character. If I run with it at all, it is usually in lower level content so see that I completely switched characters. I played it a lot solo for certain level ranges (IIRC 1-12 and 25-30); above 40 I prefer the Fortunata. Frankly: I am tempted to use the third build on this character to keep the melee focus and try to improve it as a better force-multipler for team play, giving up the ranged AoE (powers where possible and slots) to lean into other aspects. The reach for Unrelenting is a BIG commitment on this build, and it includes using FollowUp instead of my preferred Build Up... but I like to experiment. If you are going for 'more human' I would also stay out of Soul Mastery and avoid Psychic Scream. You should be able to solo just fine with smaller spawn sizes. Larger ones will just be boring. I think you can do a LOT better than one I am including here: Villain Plan by Hero Villain Designer 2.23https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! balor
Wait did they add builds, I thought you had the level those other builds from level 1? My build at 30 is not far off but then again there are not a lot of options. I picked up PrfShf-End% and Pnc-Heal/+End to help with the END issues. Now out of money so I either need to fire farm if that is still a thing or time to try and Respec. I think I had slash but if I recall I might not need all of those attacks. I believe you have access to 2 builds at creation, with the 3rd coming at level 50. When you switch builds, the character still has the same XP but you still have to go through the effort of picking powers and slotting as if leveling up. The extras builds are slightly more annoying for VEATs, because each build must also perform the forced respec.
