Tailcoat Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 I'm having a problem starting the game. It keeps telling me that an OpenGL drive was not found, "The game will not run with your current configuration." I have an Intel HD 630 and the latest drivers. I found a guide about fixing the problem here and followed the steps, but it didn't work. What do I do?
Mr Isotope Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 i am having the same problem, i have an older laptop 6 years so its taking ages trying to resolve any help out there ?
Marine X Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 See if the info and link in this Post are of any help, It is the most recent that I can find. Pay special attention to 32 vs 64 bit. If possible it is recommended to use the new Homecoming Launcher as it is better supported here. " When it's too tough for everyone else, it's just right for me..." Marine X Posted April 26, 2021 Posted April 26, 2021 Also take a look here, OpenGL is not automatically installed with Graphics driver but must be done to allow game to work. I am not positive what version of OpenGL CoH needs but I'm assuming if it works for your PC it will work. 1 1 " When it's too tough for everyone else, it's just right for me..." Intel says "OpenGL*, OpenCL*, and Vulkan* drivers must be installed separately, and are only distributed with the game or application that requires it." Where do I get the OpenGL driver?
Marine X Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 (edited) The OpenGL serves the same purpose as DirectX does on newer games. I found this article from someone with the same graphics hardware, hope it gets you going. Zer0H0ur Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Just got my machine back from the shop today and re-installed the game and got this error. Used the OpenGL issues with Intel HD Graphics 630 after updating to latest DCH drivers on Windows 10 (1903) - Intel Community link and all works fine now. Big THANKS! to Marine X.

The info at the link doesn't work for me. I checked the Intel link in the final post, and it says my drivers are up to date. I tried the 64-bit shim thing again but that doesn't work either. Does it matter that when I check my driver files, there's nothing called "ig4icd64.dll"? I do have "ig9icd64.dll" but I don't know if that's related. I downloaded the OpenGL Extensions Viewer and it says that my OpenGL version is 4.6, so what's the problem? I saw another thread (https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/13966-safe-mode-discontinuation-support-windows/page/3/) where someone suggested putting "-gfxreset -console" in Tequila's options, which I tried, and when I started Tequila, a console window came up and said some things like: ERRORLOG STARTING IGNORE:D_ OpenGL vendor string: Microsoft Corporation OpenGL renderer string: GDI Generic OpenGL version string: 1.1.0 Your card or driver doesn't support ARB_multitexture Your card or driver doesn't support ARB_texture_compression Why would that say my OpenGL is 1.1 while the Extensions Viewer says it's 4.6? Marine X Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 I found this while looking for similar issues: windows xp - OpenGL version still remains 1.1 - Stack Overflow "The problem was on motherboards integrated graphics. I just deleted the Nvidia Enhanced Display driver and the system started to use my GPU's openGL version" 1 " When it's too tough for everyone else, it's just right for me..." Tailcoat Posted April 30, 2021 Author Posted April 30, 2021 Uninstalling my NVidia (checking "delete drivers") worked! I just wonder if the next time I restart, if something will automatically reinstall and mess it up... 1
Marine X Posted April 30, 2021 Posted April 30, 2021 Let's hope not, that was probably a really long week without City of Heroes, lol. Tailcoat Posted May 20, 2021 Author Posted May 20, 2021 It worked even better when I just disabled the NVidia driver so I don't have to keep deleting it before I play. 1
Marine X Posted May 20, 2021 Posted May 20, 2021 Thanks for the update, hopefully someone else having the same issue will find this post helpful. 1 " When it's too tough for everyone else, it's just right for me..."
