I have been looking at playing a plant/martial but have trouble figuring out a build especially with power changes. Does anyone have a good permadom build using these sets?

This is what I had in my build folder, but I haven't finished buying the enhancements I need to kit it out yet. (disclaimer, I found it somewhere a while back, I didn't make it)

Slight improvement to the above build, perma hasten while using domination bind and 2 spare slots thrown into brawl; put where ever you want.

Here's a pretty vanilla, but not necessarily cheap, Plant/Martial build. I think it's pretty similar to the builds posted above.

IMO the Ice APP is the undisputed winner for synergy with Plant Control. The -Resist boosts the proc damage in Creepers, its hard to beat that.

 

Slash/Lethal resist is low on this build, as it tends to be on Ice APP builds. The actual slotting I did on Carrion could possibly use some revision. I still need to examine how procs actually work in that power to figure out which are worth slotting. I went with the damage, knockback, immob and general control procs but I'm not certain these are the best options. Someone else may have already gamed this out. My gut tells me some procs are worth far more damage than others given how this power works.

Just curious as to why you wouldn't choose Explosive Shuriken in your build ? I recently made a Plant/Martial Dom and ES looked like the star power out of the set. I usually don't play Doms, like at all so maybe I'm missing something

Explosive Shuriken is IMO a disappointing power. Its AoE damage is a minor fire DoT, and not a full strength burst.

It's balanced as a ST ranged power (it takes ranged damage sets) with the splash damage as a bonus. The base damage and recharge is the same as Bitter Ice Blast and Blaze (also T9s), but it only does 16 points of AoE damage over 5 seconds. It should at least do KD.

Yeah, Bitter Ice Blast is probably the easiest direct comparison because you don't have to fiddle with the extra DoT.

 

BIB does 120 damage with 12 sec recharge, Explosive Shuriken does the same, except BIB has an animation that lasts 1.07 seconds versus Shuriken's 1.67. 1.67 isn't strictly terrible, but on the whole there's probably better things you could be doing with that time. 

 

That's not all negative. Martial is one of the few Assault sets I don't feel compelled to take the T8 and T9 power, so that leaves it open to take 5 powers from the APP where most Doms can only pick 4.

I rerolled my Dom as a Plant/Fire the only real reason I went with /Martial was because I thought expliding shuriken was a TAoE power :x 
I did like the Trick Shot power a lot though but after getting it to level 30 my playstyle was more to stay back and not blap so much so /Fire is a much better fit for me. Will be going //Fire for the Fireball power too

Thanks all. Everyone seems to go ice with this. are there more viable options than frozen armor? I am usually more about function than style just hate the look lol

change the graphic of ice armor, looks more like cold air flowing over an ice block.  use a dark color, looks a bit like fuzz.  Much better than the old block look.
