CaptExpendable Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 So dipping my toes into the whole "streaming" thing (yes, I'm behind the times - story of my life), and I'm not sure what the proper etiquette is regarding the chat box. I only have one window, so stretching the chat box to another monitor isn't an option - do/should I close it when I'm live? I have several public channels running, and it's not like I can remind them every few minutes that they're on camera.
Riverdusk Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 Most I've seen put their camera overlay on top of chat, or a logo, or whatever. Basically hiding chat with an overlay of some sort or another rather than closing it. 1
GraspingVileTerror Posted July 10, 2021 Posted July 10, 2021 @Riverdusk has the general thrust of it. Hiding the chat from your viewers, but keeping it visible for yourself is ideal. While I don't believe there is a strict policy in place to protect the privacy of people sending messages in the game, it would be polite to give players the additional buffer. Granted, people sending messages which cause pop-up speech bubbles are a little trickier to address. Declaring yourself as a streamer with anyone who you happen to roleplaying with or teamed up with would probably also be a good idea. 2
