eldriyth Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 I think these changes are solid my guy. You guys should focus on making every AT aside from Brutes better honestly. All of the ATs solo +4/8 content would be clutch and fair.
Monkeyking Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 I'm not sure I understand why /Devices is getting buffed for the sniper changes? Is there a reason it was getting hit particularly hard relative to other blaster secondaries? I thought maybe Targeting Drone was less important to get to 22%, but it sounds like 22% will be as important as ever, and /Devices walks away with a giant recharge boost, and some other buffs? /Devices doesn't get Build-Up. At some point, the idea was that Targetting Drones would give Devices a bump in overall damage output, by letting those blasters use a quick snipe as part of their attack rotation all the time, while everyone else had only limited access to a quick snipe. That hasn't worked out in practice, and every blaster can get 22% tohit via Tactics and other bonuses if they try really hard. Plus, if we're giving quick snipes to everyone, Devices is back to having nothing in compensation. All that bonus accuracy is extremely helpful while levelling up, but the power creep of IOs makes it a useless benefit at high levels. Again, Trip Mine is of questionable utility, Time Bomb is straight up useless, and Taser is inferior to options granted by every other secondary. Basically, the sniper changes made the flaws of Devices more and more obvious, so might as well fix things up while we're in there. I'd still rather have Energy Punch and Total Focus, but death taser and a suitcase nuke will suffice.
grinningsphinx Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 The devices buffs dont go far enough if you want to bring the secondary up to par with new secondaries options. Smoke grenade still near useless Gun Drone massively over costed and has many issues compared to literally any other uncontrolled pet out there. Please see the posting in Suggestions regarding /Devices again. The changes to Time Bomb are a step in the right direction though, and it may actually even see play now. The 30% recharge on Targeting Drone is completely justified because the whole set kind of sucks...it has 2 standouts, the rest are completely meh. Also, i love how people compare with blinders on and totally disregard the other options available in blaster secondaries... IMO this isnt about buffing devices in relation to snipes, its about making the set not totally suck compared to literally any other choice, and then being able to proliferate the power set.

I'm really hoping we just leave the recharge longer for Doms, with whatever the formula says that means for Dom fast snipe damage (and the ToHit->Damage buff.) Leave the recharge longer only if the damage doesn't get nerfed like it is currently on beta. If it's nerfed so badly they need the faster recharge Hold on just a moment! First of all; the dominator AT doesn't need buffing. Secondly; dominator sniper powers are vastly stronger (by around 50% dam/per activation with better end/per damage) than the AT who supposedly are the masters of blasting. To further insult to injury; dominators can leverage this damage with much less risk than blasters while having pets to further increase the damage gap.

You may have better luck in the Stickied June 8th version of this thread. This isn't about buffing Doms, it's about not nerfing the current Dom snipes. You can argue that they *should* nerf Dominators snipes, but this change wasn't supposed to be about nerfing anyone. Blaster's are still doing a ton more damage than Dominators across the board, with both base damage and damage caps. Focusing on Snipe damage exclusively (not even ST damage) while trying to bring in AT role balance is misleading.
