Brutes Unite! I need some help with a SS/Shield build.

So, I had this guy right after things came back up and I really love the SS/SD combo. This ended up mostly being my leveling build just slotted slightly different, so I never really had a goal in mind. The character remains just a blast to play and something just so satisfying about it. That being said, I recently came back for another round in the obsession chamber and it got me to thinking, how can I fix this guy. The trick is, I don't know what fixed is. Maybe make him better at S/L? I took his agility core all the way up so he has the recharge and endurance, I probably have way too much end now. I wanted to get some opinions on what I might be able to do to really kick this guy up a notch. I am terrible at franken slotting, but beyond recharge for my 1 aoe, I think maybe his defense are all over the place? What are your guys thoughts.  Also the powers are maybe not in the right spot level wise, same for slots, I just copied him over as best I could.

I have an engagement to be at shortly, but quickly, if you slot Miracle: +Recovery in health you can drop both IO slots in Stamina giving you more Recovery than you have and freeing up those two slot.  

 

Or you could go further and drop two IO slots from Superior Conditioning and be at the exact same Recovery value and free up 4 slots.

Defense? Cause shield is positional.  If resist its lots of Franken slotting  which is a pain in the ass.

Thanks, that is something I need to look at for sure. Like I said, I have no real idea what I was doing, and it's really a leveling build I threw some sets in. So that's a good note to look at. Freeing up slots is always fun. I might see if there is a meaningful way to just drop .

 

I guess defensively, I don't know what Shield strives for....I am also thinking, is there a better epic pool that maybe synergizes better with shield? I think I took the one I took, just because endurance was always an issue when I was leveling. At this point, I don't know if I just have too much, or if all the sets are discounting stuff enough, but I never have end issues at all (the incarnate helps).

Shield is about positional defenses--Melee, Ranged, and AoE. You've achieved the basic soft-cap for Melee (45%) and have extra to address Defense debuff that some opponents do. You're a bit lacking in Ranged and AoE however.

 

You could grab yet another slot from Active Defense since you only need it to recharge before it runs out and you're way past that point with the level of Recharge Reduction you're at. That leaves you at 5 free slots my previous breakdown. Beyond that you start getting into more significant changes to what you have involving tradeoffs. However with the 5 free slots you could fully slot Hurl with the Tunderstrike set and pick up 3.75% Ranged, bringing you up to 41.46% Ranged Defense. If you could find another 3.5%  you'd soft cap it and even if you didn't find that 3.5% you'd still be more defensive.

So, I'm a tank guy at heart, therefore I used alot of my SD/WM build to beef up the ever-so-important positional defenses, which are now 51.7/46.3/40.6.  Using the tank base, you also have a *massive* upgrade in every category of resistances, especially with Agility Alpha and Melee Hybrid.  I will also apologize, in advance, for completely blowing up the build 😆

 

Another personal preference is I put the Brute's Fury ATO in FS, so it'll proc virtually every time (provided you have several enemies in range).  Subbed Kick for Boxing, so you can add a FF +recharge (if you can work it into your attack rotation) and moved around the heal and end mod "specials".  Would also consider BotZ for SJ, for when AD is on cooldown, so you don't get thrown around like a ragdoll.

No thank you! I honestly have no idea what I am looking for, this is a great example of things I could be doing better. I have infinite resources on the guy, I just put stuff willy nilly, so I appreciate this! I will look it over. This looks like what I was trying to understand.
