wubbahducky Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 I know that most slow recharging abilities hit the 90% proc rate cap, i've read through the proc monster threads and the PPM info thread, and the math is way too advanced for me. Is there a simpler way to calculate how much recharge I can slot into a power before it is reduced below the 90% proc threshold? It doesnt even have to be exact, just a ballpark estimate or rule of thumb to follow would be good. I mean i've seen some builds slot procs into powers with the rest of the set giving recharge/acc/damage, so that seems to defeat the purpose of adding a proc into the power.
DreadShinobi Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 (edited) I just use mids and see if I can slot a power with recharge without lowering the average damage produced by slotted damage procs. If my proc damage goes down I don't slot the recharge where possible. Because mids automagically displays proc damage as an average I've never found myself needing to delve into the math too much. Just be careful around powers that display proc damage incorrectly in mids, such as rain powers and pseudopets. If mids displays normal proc damage as 64.58 (90% of 71.75) and purple dmg proc as 96.38 (90% of 107.1) then you're good to go! If your proc damage is displaying lower than this you can use that number to calculate your proc chance and decide if you want to lower your slotted recharge or decide if slotting the proc is still worthwhile to you. Shred Monkey Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Shred's simplified proc math: cast time + recharge = 16 seconds = normal procs at 90% 12 seconds = purples procs at 90% Notes: 1. AoE proc chance is "something less." Wide cones have a lower proc chance then narrow ones. 2. Global recharge doesn't affect proc chance, so don't count that. 3. Don't slot recharge in your alpha incarnate slot. Slot maximum +Damage. 1 Active on Excelsior: Prismatic Monkey - Seismic / Martial Blaster, Shadow Dragon Monkey - Staff / Dark Brute, Murder Robot Monkey - Arachnos Night Widow
SeraphimKensai Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Use this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12l8SBv_Wy9Xd33UlVCVD7DN0v5XChmdnEQv33eI-tiE/edit?usp=drivesdk Then you can determine how much recharge you can safely slot without compromising your proc rates.

aethereal Posted February 1, 2022 Posted February 1, 2022 (edited) For single target, it's easy: the game is trying to get you the advertised PPM, assuming the power is used as much as possible. So if you have a power that has a recharge + animation time of 15 seconds, you can use that power four times per minute, right? A PPM of 3.5 is going to be near max. A PPM of 4.5 is safely over max (it's trying to make the proc fire 4.5 times per minute, it can only ever achieve 4 times per minute, so it maxes proc rate). AoE lowers the chance of proccing, but also breaks this nice easy intuitive thing, which is a shame. That said, the math here is not too hard for anyone. Come on, it's addition, multiplication, and division. You just plug the numbers into the formula. Nobody's asking you to do the calculation in your head, your phone or computer is easily able to the computation, and the formulas have already been derived/found.
