I know the answer is that they'll never be a thing, but hear me out: In theory; could Rikti player characters become a thing? I know that most likely they won't be a thing, but I suppose I'd also like to know why, barring skeleton differences, of course... I mean... just wondering, really...

I mean, you can get Rikti weapon models for axes, so you could conceivably play a member of The Lost or someone otherwise early in the stages of the changes they undergo.  I suppose I could see them as some sort of Epic Archetype, with little needed the way of new asset creation, though...

You mean aside from the lore that says players discover the Lost are turning into Rikti not earlier than the late 20s, the Vanguard (among other forces) are looking for Rikti with signs even in the starting zones telling people to report Rikti sightings for apprehension, the availability of some weapons not accessible to players (that I know of), or the fact the Rikti don't become friendly to humanity until the 40s? Aside from that? I don't really know. Since time is fairly fluid in the game, it would be possible to justify a friendly Rikti early in the game, aside from Montague's arc. The question then becomes, how do you fit the Rikti into the lore with the power sets available? Or would they be limited to Rikti weapons like the Arachnos Soldiers? And how fun would it be to play a character that looks like every other Rikti except for armor colors?

Edited to add "some".

So theoretically, if a major update were to add said assets, it would be possible to play a full-fledged Rikti? Again, just theorizing...

I don't think it's a matter of assets - there are already a ton of them in the game.  What I'm saying is that there would have to be the will to go ahead with creating some sort of new archetype that is specifically Rikti.

Perhaps not an archetype, I mean like a body selection with outfit customization, y'know?

I'm kinda more referring to the idea of extra diversity, if that makes sense...

That brings back the question of how the Rikti is using those powers.

I suppose barring that.... Sorry... I just really seem to have taken a liking to the Traditionalists, y'know? Friendly towards the humans and all that? Y'know?

As mentioned here....

Which is fine. I like the Traditionalists too. However, the Rikti would really need to be a new epic AT with a branch for Mentalist or Weapon Rikti. Maybe even a third branch for Magus.

(Edit: And Priest....)

That could work, after 35 levels, the Rikti player could be like "Well screw this, lemme get in on this action" and either picks up a weapon he/she confiscated (Or from a fallen Rikti, depending on alignment) and learns how to use it, or learns the mentalist/mesmerist or Magus abilities

Again, entirely theoretical...

I don't really see them enabling or adding "Rikti" as a completely new bodytype.

As for how fun it would be, that's a question I cannot answer, as the term is rather subjective, if you really think about it, some might get a kick, some might not, some may think it's the best thing since porn, some might find it more interesting than others, everyone's different

If I had to guess, it would start with Rikti Soldier, which uses the basic weapons of the Rikti. Then at X level, can retrain into Rikti Mentalist like a Fortunata, a Rikti magic-user (Priest/Magus line), or go Full Soldier for boss level gear.

Trouble is, if we're speaking archetypes, there's not a lot of powers at the Rikti's disposal, if you really think about it... but it'd be interesting

Hence why I asked "In theory..."

I don't understand why you are asking this, then - yes, "in theory", they could do a lot of things.  They could allow you to play as a Rikti dropship or a Zeus Titan if they wanted to.  What is your purpose in asking, if you are going to keep rebutting anything with "well, in theory..."

Jesus.... I didn't mean to offend you.... sorry I asked...

There aren't a lot of powers available to Arachnos soldiers/fortunatas. They simply get expanded powers lists to make them better than the typical Minion or Lieutenant, even rivaling Bosses. So the slots would be filled along the same lines as Arachnos.

The main thing to keep in mind about a suggestion thread, is it is really looking for suggestions rather than unactionable theory. So if you want to play a Rikti? You are really asking for a new epic AT.

I am not offended.  Your question was ill formed and lacking in clarity.  There are a lot of powers available if we were to go the archetype route, though.

Didn't really see a dedicated thread for theoretical stuff... and I don't think it'd be within my power to create such a thread....

That's the thing though. You are asking if you can play a Rikti. So approach it with an end goal you would like to see implemented even if you think it never will be. Others will read your idea and give their feedback. Hopefully positive. And hopefully, the devs will read it and go "Hey! Neat idea! Let's try it!". So approach this thread as if you want to play a Rikti, and everyone can sit together and try to hash it out.
