I am enjoying this blaster on just SOs, but it's time to build her out.

 

The power selections are fixed, but I am not feeling it on the slotting.

 

Any suggestions? I would like more s/l def.

Posted
  1. Swap Zapp to Calibrated Accuracy. Loses 1.25% Ranged Defense but gains 5% +Recharge.
  2. Swap to Preemptive Optimization in Short Circuit.  would drop the +Recharge from 6.25% to 3.75% but gives 3.75% more Ranged Defense (see next line)
  3.  Swap from 6 slotted Artillery to 5 slotted Positron's Blast in Ball Lightning. You then gain 6.25 +Recharge while losing 3.13% Ranged Defense (see previous line). Overall +3.75% Global Recharge, +0.62% Ranged Defense
  4. Swap the Luck of the Gambler enhancement in Infiltration from Def/End to Def/Increased Global Recharge Speed--gives the same Defense value and only costs 0.09 End/sec more for 7.5% +Recharge 
  5. Swap to Expedient Reinforcement from Blood Mandate in Voltaic Sentinel. Gains 6.25% +Recharge for losing 0.62% Ranged Defense
  6. Drop the Obliteration and Eradication procs from Frozen Aura for two more Armageddon enhancements. The proc potential drop by one-third but you pick up Accuracy on the power and 10% +Recharge.
  7. Swap one slot from Shiver to Hasten. Boost Recharge enhancements to +3
  8.  Drop Victory Rush for Tesla Cage. For its slots drop the Slow Enhancement from Frigid Protection, the Psionic Status Resistance from Tough, and extra slot for Gladiator's Armor (keep the +Defense IO). Slot with Basilisk Gaze to gain +1.25% Ranged Defense and 7.5% +Recharge [I know you said the power selection is fixed, but one-slotted Victory Rush is probably not going to serve you as well as reaching for perma-Hasten.] 

Would leave you with 6.8 seconds in every 126.8 seconds outside Hasten while keeping you at pretty much the same Ranged Defense value.

Infiltration loses all defense bonuses when you are attacking. 

 

It's hard to up your S/L if you skip the ST melee attacks, which are the easiest way to shore up S/L defense. I'm not sure if you are going for a budget build here but 5 piece blistering cold and a few rectified reticles here and there will put you pretty close to 40% S/L defense. Since you want to keep your power selections, and I don't agree with them if performance is what you are seeking, neither from a power pick nor progression (for exemp content) perspective, this is what I ended up with:

Range defense is more important than S/L defense, you got plenty of tools to neuter things that get too close to you but you have no control over things you can't interact with.

I think Voltaic Sent is a trash power and not worth the end sink. 3 second cast time and detoggle makes it a hassle against mez heavy groups. If you have a habit of skipping death shroud on a /dark blaster there's no reason for you to embrace VS.  I also put a lot of emphasis on slow resist on my blaster builds. You don't need it against all encounters but when you get slowed and you have no slow resist life will get very painful. 

 

With all the melee range mitigation you can comfortably drop your S/L to about 40% and still do fine in melee range.

I tried several power variations. Swapping in or out Telsa Cage, Ice Sword, Voltaic Sentinel.

 

The best Trapdoor time was to use Voltaic Sentinel and skip Ice Sword and Tesla Cage.

6:00 with build below

6:30-45 with combos of Ice Sword or Tesla cage

 

Voltaic Sentinel helps keep things drained and picks off mobs with slivers of hp.

 

This build can solo 4x8 DA, PI, and Cimerora. I died once after aggroing three groups of Carnies, only thing left when I came back was two bosses out of three groups.

 

I'll post some combat videos in a few days.
