thunderforce Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Currently, you can use SOs and DOs at very early levels. Great! Except that only a small fraction of the drops you get are useful, and vendors pay a modest fraction of the buy price, so you are unlikely to be able to take much advantage of this as a new character belonging to a new player. (Of course, you can just get 5 merits by exploring and sell them, but you have to know that; or get a bushel of cash from an alt, but you have to have one). If the origin of DO/SO drops was more likely to match the character, they would be more likely to be directly useful. I don't see this would have any significant economic impact - it means a fraction of people (if you can just send a million from an alt, why bother?), mostly at low levels (anyone slightly in the know will transition to IOs anyway around 25), vendor slightly fewer drops and buy slightly fewer DO/SOs from vendors. Uun Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 If you want drops that match your character's origin, do missions from contacts of that origin. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Category:Hero_Contacts_Level_5-9 https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Category:Hero_Contacts_Level_10-14 https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Category:Hero_Contacts_Level_15-19 6 Uuniverse
thunderforce Posted October 30, 2022 Author Posted October 30, 2022 More usefully (albeit more useful than that reply is a low bar), Faultline writes on Discord: Quote I actually tried to implement this a couple of years ago, it even made it to beta. It won't work right. I think this thread can be closed since the suggestion is not practical to implement. 1 Homecoming Wiki - please use it (because it reflects the game in 2020 not 2012) and edit it (because there is lots to do) Things to do in City of Heroes, sorted by level. Now there's new low-level content, it would be nice if there was something else in-game that let people know how to get the right SOs to drop. Reunion player, ex-Defiant. Rudra Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 (edited) Make it part of the Shining Stars/Hearts of Darkness tutorial arcs. Edit: There is a point in those arcs where they talk about enhancements and the importance of using them. Expand those sections/monologues to address the DO/SO enhancements and the utilization of appropriate contacts to acquire them for the character to use. Edited October 30, 2022 by Rudra 1
