SleepyCatten Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Hi everyone! I missed the COH boat the first time around & instead got stuck with Champions Online (CO). While incredibly flawed, I really enjoyed the native-ish Xbox controller support bindings, particularly for switching between friendly/non-friendly targets etc. I started trying to configure these myself, only to find that I couldn't seem to bind combinations of gamepad keys 😞 Please may I kindly ask whether someone has found a way to use the same Xbox controller bindings as CO in COH or found an alternative way that achieves an intuitive, user-friendly experience? Apologies if I'm being dense 😅 I'm very much a COH newb 🤦♀️ I'm very much willing to learn, however, if someone can explain like I'm five. Kind regards
UltraAlt Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 (edited) @SleepyCatten I've managed to do it with a Logitech Controller/Gamepad that looks like a PS2 controller, but I haven't tried to do it with XBox controller. Some people have asked how to do it, but I haven't heard back that they were successful. The reason you can do it with the Logitech Controller/gamepad is that you can put it into a mode that makes the computer think it is a keyboard and then assign keystrokes to the buttons and sticks. (It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications) Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case. But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable. Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

So if I had a fancy macro I could set up as one of the slots and activate it with the controller. If that doesn't make sense I can go into more detail. The best thing about using a controller is the movement and looking around is so smooth. jumu.begum Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) It's great to hear that you're getting into City of Heroes and are looking to use an Xbox controller with COH. Unfortunately, I don't have experience with the specific bindings you're referring to from CO, but I recommend checking out the Multitechverse website for additional support. The COH subreddit is another great resource for finding tips and tricks for optimizing your gameplay experience. Edited March 14, 2023 by jumu.begum
