Beasts/Trick Arrow build! Looking for feedback

So I'm the brave soul that decides to roll Beasts/Trick Arrow. I know it's not the best pairing due to Trick Arrow's lack of +defense, but I rolled it anyway because it fits thematically and let's face it, having an active secondary as a mastermind is just too cool. Sometimes I feel like a blaster with how much damage my Ice Arrow does. Beasts/Traps was a close option, but I desperately want to have a bow as part of my costume whenever holstered ranged weapons are added to the game.

The goal is to be able to solo x8/+1, although if I can fight tougher enemies then that's a plus. I want to be able to take on the game's most challenging content.  I want to give my pets the best possible defense without sacrificing their damage output, so I'm not going to use Fortify Pack. I will be running Barrier nonstop to shore up my pets' defense. I'm going to spam flash arrow for the -toHit on enemies. In addition, I'm going to be running bodyguard all the time.

Let me know what you think.

While Trick Arrow may not have +DEF, it does indirectly via really awesome -ToHit from Flash Arrow.  It does top shelf debuffing (of just about every kind) and also does AoE via Oil Slick.

Beast/trick arrow is a fantastic combination.

I'm currently running a level 50 incarnate beast mastery/trick arrow that's similar to this build, and I agree with this sentiment. Oh.... levelling up was an absolute nightmare. But once I got IO'd, my pets managed to stay pretty safe and kill everything. But I wasn't sure how I stacked compared to other MMs that have more defense/damage buffs.

Cool build. Few things:

Power Boost is active on the build so the defense numbers look higher than what they really are.

Change Thunderstrike in Call Hawk to Superior Winter's Bite. It's provides better overall stats including more recovery and +E/N def. Or maybe just 3 slot CH with Thunderstrike and invest the other 3 slots into Maneuvers and Weave to improve overall def stats.

Add Reactive Defense unique to improve dam res.

Add the Ice Mistral cold damage proc to Call Ravens and Ice Arrow. An exotic damage type usually does better than S/L damage.

Add LotG +7.5% rech to Fortify Pack as a mule.

Can't remember if Acid Arrow activates Oil Slick. Swap the Shield Breaker proc in Acid Arrow with the Bombardment fire damage proc. An exotic damage type and an extra chance to trigger OSA.

Imo, LotG +7.5% in Lions is not worth it. It buffs Lion's Roar, lasts for 15s and has a 1 min CD. Adding the LotG bumps it up from a +6% def buff to +7%. It's not a lot but maybe it needs the mule.

The Dire Wolf will be gasping on fumes without end IOs.

I knew my stats looked off, but I couldn't figure out what was causing it. I guess Power Boost was the culprit.

LotG was supposed to be in Fortify Pack. I just forgot to put it in.

Acid Arrow does activate Oil Slick, but I macro'd my taser dart to target oil slick. Is the fire proc still worth it? It's more AoE damage.

I don't have an 5th slot for LotG. I would need to sacrifice a power to pick up vengeance in the leadership pool. So I'm using lions as a mule.

I'm working on one of these right now as an alternate ranger build for my D&D adventurers.

I haven't finalized a build, as I've been just trying out various combinations on the test server, but overall it's pretty solid. I did end up having to pick up the medicine pool, since there's not enough damage-prevention within TA. But the couple of builds I've thrown together to try out on test have been able to go through +1/8 in incarnate pretty easily, only occasionally losing a pet here and there, without any incarnate power slotting. I'm going to test it again tonight with everything at tier-4, to see what 53rd level pets are like against +3 or +4/8.
