Willpower/Dark Melee/Energy Tanker Build

So, I was searching for a willpower tanker myself. However could not find any that ticked the boxes for me. So I made my own. Hereby I present you the Willpower/Darkmelee/Energy Mastery tank.

Do you want to laugh at enemies while having crazy amounts of regen and make regen tanks envy you? (you can reach %1000+ regen and thats pre-incarnate, with incarnates you can go even higher)

Do you want to have very high defenses? (%42+ to all typed, melee is softcapped, psi is %39.6)

Do you want to have hardcapped S/L and good enough psionics resists on top of that?

Do you want to have 3000+ HP and have great heals on top of your absurd regen? (HP is with accolades)

Do you want to have loads of status protection?

Do you also want to have absolutely no endurance problems? (Trust me, its just overkill on recovery and you have dark consumption on top of it)

 

If this ticks all the boxes for you, then this build is for you.

Cons:

Low resistances to E/N/C/F/T

No room for travel powers, sorry, you are stuck with ninjarun/sprint combo here You have Superspeed+Superjump now

Expensive as hell to make it. No more absurdly expensive, still far from a budget build of course

Third and most up to date iteration of the build that drops stealth, instead grabs travel powers and soul mastery, yes, S/L defenses are not softcapped anymore, but to think of it, every enemy you hit will suffer -tohit in any case, and melee is softcapped regardless, you are a melee AT so you want to be at melee anyways.

Very solid build. 

 

Since you're overcap on S/L resist with the proc up, you can afford to drop the Reactive Defense kits from Maneuvers and Heightened Senses.  In fact, the Heightened Senses one does almost nothing for you since you're deep in ED red -- you can actually drop one of those slots entirely, move it to Soul Drain, move the Chance for Build Up along with it to complete the Gaussian's set bonus, and you'll break 45% to s/l/m.

 

I think there are some other efficiency things that can be done to tighten up the offensive aspect of this build.  Although I heartily agree that LBE is just an incredibly fun power, you might do better overall going into an EPP with some AoE offense like Mu (or at least getting Energy Torrent and slotting it for KB-to-KD).  I don't think Touch of Fear is doing much for you -- the -tohit is attractive, but without any damage on the attack it ends up being fairly ineffectual (remembering that you don't really care about minions or lts and EBs and AVs resist 5/6th of tohit debuffs).  I think there's probably a way to drop something, pick up Smite, and shuffle the Dark Consumption, Shadow Punch, and Shadow Maul slotting so you don't lose anything meaningful but end up with a better attack chain.

As per Jack's advice, I changed some slotting around, put some enhancements to further increase resists across the board and achieved softcapped defenses to everything typed but psi (psi sits at %43.6)

Thank you very much for sharing this. I'm considering cobbling a copy together for my WP/SS tanker. Would you perhaps have any helpful suggestions for alterations to it with SS in mind?

..It only takes one Beanbag fan saying that they JRANGER it for the devs to revert it.

hi i fixed a few things with your build, you are now actually completely immortal and unstoppable as any tank should be.

 

why you are immortal:

* soft-capped elemental defenses (not like it matters since everything punching you has -20% tohit)

* capped s/l resist (not that it matters since nothing can do any damage to begin with)

* every one of your attacks has some form of self-buff or enemy debuff, or both.

 

protips:

 

* always keep Darkest Night up,

* taunt ranged enemies to get them up in your face for rise to the challenge

* use Shadow Punch at least once every 10 seconds on the biggest thing you see,

* use Barrier as an emergency button for when you get hit with def/res debuffs

* Cross Punch gives you extra recharge/acc (you're taking it instead of shadow maul because shadow maul is ass)

 

options:

 

* you can probably take the HO out of siphon life and stick it in one of your +def powers for the shield wall proc if you want. don't worry about your acc, that's what perma soul drain is for

* if you are really dead-set on having a stealth option, stick celerity proc in superspeed
