While we don't always get new badges for the holiday events each year, we do still get them. So how would that work when new badges are released for the holiday events?

Doesn't count for accolade probably. Like you said, It's fairly rare to add and holiday events have a bunch of badges as is, more than enough for holiday accolades.

That is the issue I have with the suggestion though. There was already a suggestion made to have an accolade for getting all the TFs done. Except we already have that accolade. It's called Task Force Commander. Since other TFs were added after the accolade though, there was a push for yet another accolade to mark the same thing. And I see the same thing happening with this suggestion. We get accolades for getting all the holiday badges, then more badges are added, and someone is going to inevitably request an accolade for getting all the holiday badges including the new ones because the previous accolade doesn't have the new badges as a requirement.

That's based on the assumption they continue to add new badges that aren't automatic for logging in, which is highly unlikely. I don't see the limited dev time being spent on new holiday events when they're already fairly dense events. So the comparison to actual content like a TF which is very possible, doesn't really fit.

Say 5-6 years from now, if they add 5-6 more logging badges, accolades can always be updated without creating new ones.

Which then punishes players late to gather the holiday badges unless the accolade is taken away from players that already have it because additional requirements have been added to it. And if the accolade is taken away from players that already have it for new requirements having been added, you're going to have a very upset badger base.

First, those automatic badges are also holiday badges. Second, like you admit, it is only unlikely, not impossible. (Edit: Especially since we keep asking for new content.) And just because you don't see the devs devoting time to making new holiday badges does not mean they won't. So my opposition still stands.

I don't dev for homecoming but i imagine they don't actually need to remove any badges to edit an accolade as that's possible to adjust without removing and it doesn't punish "Late players" anymore than any other of the changes have to many different areas of the game.

Sure, you can what if any kind of scenario about anything to have opposition to something, it's fairly easy to do. It's just a little weird i think to be extremely adamant that something isn't a good idea based purely on the idea of something COULD happen that historically has not and it being unfair to people who, for one are imaginary in this situation and two would never really know the difference since buying 3 more holiday login badges you may have missed is only 75 more candy canes. 😉

It's ok to not like an idea don't get me wrong here you're allowed to think what you think, It's well and truly not that deep of a suggestion. Just more silly badge titles to have through an easy avenue in content that probably won't get updated as there is far more pressing stuff that needs updating / new content not based around only being here for a couple weeks a year on a very limited development server.

This could be a handy way of working as a quick check-in on characters you don't play too often, to take a look at the accolade and see how many pieces of it you're still missing. I thought there might already have been something like this for the Halloween event but without being in-game I can't say. It would especially be helpful because for most of the winter rewards, there's no greyed out version of them before you get them, you just get them upon completion of a task. Like, the box-click badge and the snowman hunt are the only ones wth a counter.

It's better not to rely on third party addons that aren't even advertised by Homecoming for things like this, Got to think about new players who wouldn't know about them.

So, there are several different types of Winter badges.   There are the anniversary that can be purchased during this time with candy canes, there are also a couple that only are purchased.  (Holiday jet and one other)

Winter Lord for the trial, and Winter Lord while out in the wild.

Duplicating Gift have two, one for getting, one for giving

Beating up Snowmen

Toothbreaker is both a Winter event and and a Valentine event badge that then awards a gladiator.

Five different badges for doing the Father Time missions.  (Four plus the one beating up Lady Winter)

I use badgesetlist for my own tracking of those and don't really count the purchased ones as part of the set.

I am thinking of new players. Any new player won't know a lot about the game. How do they find out? People like us tell them. As for 3rd Party apps being best to not rely on? There are quite a few players like me that use Vidiotmaps. And Mids. Both of which are not advertised by HC in the game but are recommended for players in my experience, especially if a new player looking to get a feel for powers and builds (Mids) and for finding their way around the maps (Vidiotmaps). Most especially for finding those explores and lores. The added explore and lore tip missions the HC devs added are helpful for pointing the way to them, but they still aren't anywhere as useful as the 3rd Party app Vidiotmaps. And new players that decide to spend their time on these forums? Will wind up introduced to them. (For that matter, 3rd party apps are listed on these forums with their own dedicated links. On the Tools, Utilities, and Downloads link available from the homepage.)

Faster, easier, and more efficient and less downloads just to have an accolade for the primary event badges excluding login rewards. A lot of players avoid the forums due to forum warriors and the toxicity they bring.

That would probably be the best approach, avoiding the login badges in specific for an accolade around holiday events. Makes it easy to future proof!

No downloads required for the badger site. And it has an export option so you can retain the data for your characters locally (since they don't retain the data themselves, so clearing your history wipes you from the site) and simply re-apply the exported data to recover your character's badge progress. (And the site is very quick to update for new badges added to the game.) It also gives you visibility on all the game's badges with information on how to get the badges, even if those badges are normally hidden until earned like most gladiator badges.

Oh thats cool to know it's not a DL, I don't disagree this is a great tool and I'll probably use it myself now so thank you ^^ but i still think it'd be better to have the accolade plus you get another badge title! but we know that alrdy
