I'm only level 31 with generic IOs slotted, but I kinda play this build a little up in your face already, and i don't even have the attacks for it. So I built for defense, and I figure I'll bounce in, hit radioactive cloud, atom smasher and hail of bullets then hop back out to spitting distance. It's probably not the order I would take the powers in, I don't know. I'm still an idiot, but I'm tryin' to learn. This has 32.9% melee defense, 45.4 Ranged defense, and 40.4 AOE defense. I kinda feel like it might be little short on recharge with no perma-hasten, but maybe beta decay helps with that, I gotta learn how these powers work.

 

Could someone take a look and spruce it up a bit?

It was late when I did this, and I already see a couple of things I screwed up. I didn't mean to take suppressive fire at all, much less 6-slot it. Positron Cell is a way better version of the same thing. I also don't think I need all 3 of the Steadfast Protection enhancements to get the 3% defense, thought I did, I might, will have to check. That should free up one power and some slots.

Perma-hasten, more mobile, more utility, better damage and I would think better survivability due to more regen and 3 different oh-shit powers included . Using Electron Shackles (fastish DoT makes it usable for damage/control) as an attack due to significantly better damage per activation second than Dual Wield. Suggest Vengeance if you mostly plan to team, Afterburner if you solo more. I think math dictates that +End procs are only more beneficial than a third slotted End Mod IO.

Thanks for taking the time to put that together.

 

I'm wondering, why slot up beta decay so heavily? What am I missing here?

 

I tried to stay away from purple enhancements, assuming they cost a ton. Is that true?

 

Why not slot Positron Cell for damage? It holds pretty good without slotting for more hold duration, and it's not aoe or anything where I could totally be a badass controller/blaster. I'm probably missing something here, too.

 

Do I have enough endurance? Should I add a third end mod that procs endurance? I don't like running out of endurance?

 

I'm not seeing tactics. I realize pistols doesn't have a snipe, but I don't like to miss when I get debuffed. Is it enough?

 

Vengeance seems awesome ... if somebody dies. I'm not seeing the value in that.

Beta Decay is a great IO-set mule for +3.75% ranged and +6.75% recharge. Totally worth it, especially since you will run Beta Decay pretty much non-stop. As for influence cost; you added Entomb and Avalanche, both of which are sets who sell for 20-25 million a pop, so I assumed you were pretty flush. This is an expensive build, but not much more so than what you fleshed out. Positron Cell can be slotted for damage, but you really don't want to spam it for damage as it will hurt your DPS. Slot as I do and you get the ranged you need, better duration and 7.5% global recharge. Electron Shackles is 50% more damage per activation second and 20% more than Dual Wield. With high defenses, you should be debuffed less. Also, you will have AoE and ST hold to stop debuffers before they can debuff you. It should not be much of a concern team or solo. Besides, many of the sets come with +Accuracy set bonuses and on teams usually there are several who run Tactics at high levels. My build has better endurance management than yours...apart from it being so much faster than your build so it will consume more too (but that is a luxury problem). You can choose not to use both leadership toggles and still be very near soft cap range if you find yourself running dry (or you can drop Assault/Vengeance all together and go with ie. Afterburner. At higher levels there are special veteran powers that can help with what you want (no experience with it though). Vengeance itself is a great power that will turn a losing battle into a winning one, not many Blasters come with that sort of team friendliness/utility. It is also a great IO mule for Luck of the Gambler + Recharge (as is Afterburner).

Thanks. That answered a pretty much every question. I'm not flush, however. I got a farm brute that can make some pretty good money "for me," but he's still running generic IOs atm. Mostly I'm trying out a crap-ton of different alts and I have plenty of money to slot them all with generics while I figure out which ones I like best. I don't know what costs how much or any of that stuff. I figure I'll have to get serious about farming at some point to afford things.

 

This character is one of my favorites so far. And I try to work up builds for my favorites and see how they look on paper, and it's a good way to try and learn about all this crazy set bonus nonsense. Last I played, Hamidon was a pretty new thing, and I only had like one or two of those enhancements slotted.  So I really appreciate it when someone takes the time to explain things. Thank you.

Nice build.

I see the defense cap.

 

My response comes from a solo mindset. I don't play tanks or scrappers, Mostly Blasters, Corruptors,  Defenders, Masterminds. Traps is a big with me for getting Defense cap.

I have a DP kin build set for Melee defense cap but decently capped at several damage types as well along the way.

My mindset is no purple IO's when I can due to price cost.

A build has to be able to handle solo 3/8 minimum.

 

 

So with that said here is my only issue with this is DP big power is PBAOE which means he will have really limited defenses when trying to pull that off solo and DP range is short compared to other power sets. Further he has no keep away powers..

 

EG Devices Caltrops. Assault Rifle Ignite.

 

Further Atomic is also PBAOE reliant.

 

I would switch the build around to go for close as possible melee defense cap again as you will be getting close in other typed defense as well. EG smashing and lethal which is a high number of enemies use.

 

We won't talk Malta or Carnie groups because everyone has a hard time with them.

 

End game would be super speeding into a group under stealth IO.. Hail of Bullets, disorient from Oppressive Gloom. Bullet Rain, Empty clips, Some other Atomic AOE, Back to Hail of bullets. Kill of running stragglers or just continue onto next group and these half dead mobs will come running back to be killed off by another AOE burst.

 

This is at least how I would envision this build.

 

Unfortunately sometimes making a build does not jive with a toon concept.
