Help with a bio tanker

Coincidentally, I'm also working on a Bio/BA Tanker.  I just hit 50 last night and I'm trying to plan my build.  Bio seems like a very slot-hungry powerset... you want all nine powers and they all want slots (except maybe Inexhaustible).  As a result, I have a hard time finding slots for Pool powers that also want them.

@Xandyr I checked out the build you posted and it seems like you hit ran into a similar problem - you've got Gloom and Dark Obliteration on there, but not really slotted.  Thoughts?  Should we take slots of out powers like Ablative Carapace in favor of Dark Obliteration or Maneuvers?  Maybe skip the Patron Power entirely and take a couple Stealth powers to act as single-slot LotG Def/Rech% mules?

Am I missing something? The build I posted for Bio/BA does not have any Patron powers.

If I were to try and take a Patron Power, I'd go Soul Mastery and take Gloom and Darkest Night. I'd probably slot 3 Apocalypse in Gloom (mainly for the set bonuses) and slot DK with 4 pieces of Dark Watcher's Despair ( set bonuses, plus that would get roughly -22.79% To Hit Debuff).

A problem with Bios, as I've said before and you did also, is that all 9 powers are great....almost essential. That leaves little to "play around with". I definitely like getting Tough/Weave. Maneuvers is always good (helps hit the Defense soft cap, plus another place for a LotG). Hasten is almost mandatory...then your Travel power. I personally always take CJ/SJ on all my toons ( I had an accident and lost the tip of my left forefinger, so it makes it a little difficult for me if I Hover. CJ is easier for me).

Re: slots for Bio armor, especially for those toons that can fit FF +recharge procs, is to 3 slot Ablative and Parasitic with 3 +5'ed heal/rech IOs. If that was suggested already by others, apologies.

Ah I might have had two builds up and looked at the wrong one, sorry.

I'm using Hasten, Combat Jumping, Boxing/Tough/Weave.  Rather than Soul Mastery, I did end up taking Stealth/Infiltration/Grant Invisibility for an extra 3% Def from Stealth and 3x LotG mules.  My build is attached (I don't have all those purple IOs yet - something to work towards).

Once I get my incarnates, I figure I can move the slots from Inexhaustible and Stamina somewhere else.  Hopefully, the End problems and general squishiness will also start to go away 😄

@Xandyr Do you happen to have a Bio/Staff build?

Coming back after a while and trying out a Bio/Staff Tanker for first time saw your sig and posts about Bio so thought I'd ask. How well will it function while leveling without any influence (Essentially a fresh start)?

Howdy! Yeah, I've got that build....it's an old build, but should still do the trick.

Staff is so under appreciated IMHO. On a Tank, you hit EVERYTHING. And it has a +DEF(Melee/Lethal). In Form of the Body, with 3 stacks of Perfection, when you execute Eye of the Storm, you cause additional Smashing Damage AND lower enemies' Resistance ( -10% for 6 seconds). Also, in Form of the Body, with 3 stacks of Perfection, when you execute Sky Splitter, it will cause additional Smashing Damage AND give you a bonus to your Resistances ( +13.3% for 15 seconds). That really helps offset the resistance penalty you have while in Offensive Adaptation.

'Course, while in Offensive, your Fire/Cold Defenses are almost 54%, while your Energy/N. Energy Defenses are a little over 55%. With Guarded Spin, your Lethal Defense is almost 48% and your Melee Defense is almost 52%. Even while in Offensive....you shouldn't be getting hit very much.

I played this build, and it is fun. Been a long time since I have, but it was worth it. I took Focused Accuracy because, well, I hate to miss and hate my Accuracy being debuffed. Plus it was a good way to get an extra +2% Damage and a little more E/NE Resistance.

You can make Bio/Staff work on basic IOs. It just shines when you're able to fully kit it out. What server are you on?

Hope that helps.! And have fun!
