KelsoKajek Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) With the availability of generic IO enhancements that can't be out-leveled, the primary value DO and SO enhancements offer is a loot drop. What if every power had an inherent second ability, like a proc for damage/heal/hold/etc, or a boost like Kismet's To-Hit buff, that would be unlocked if a player had at least 4 DO enhancements slotted, and a more powerful version of that ability if the power was 6-slotted with SOs? Rudra Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Aside from the fact every power in the game would have to be redesigned and coded for this to work? There are benefits to using DOs or SOs as opposed to IOs. First, DOs and SOs drop from enemies, so you can slot and/or upgrade as you go. You can't do that with IOs. Second, using DOs or SOs instead of IOs, particularly set IOs, gives players the ability to play the game with its original challenge. Which adding extra benefits to powers for using DOs or SOs would negate. 1

I get what you're saying. It's interesting. A small bonus for committing to slotting without dealing with the huge number of IO sets. It could serve as an introduction to set bonuses.
