People that play Stoney McStone Hands or whatever just annoy me.

Then you need to mind your own gorram business. It's not your character. As long as their names aren't vulgar, racist, etc, it's no concern of yours.

Naming is the biggest hurdle (besides leveling) for me. If a character doesn't have a good name, I just don't want to play them.  People that play Stoney McStone Hands or whatever just annoy me.  It's a game where you play a superhero or villain: Don't you want to immerse yourself in a great concept with a good name? This is why I prefer RP servers in MMOs.

For example, my Kin/Nin Scrapper is called Steelshadow. I rolled him a few times with different names and just wasn't into them. I also created a Sonic/Dark Corr named Shadowsonic I play (Shadow theme going on here).  I have a DP/Dark Blaster named Grim Tracer.

Currently trying to think up a name for a G-Man Man in Black type character who is a Beam/Kin Corr but I can't think up a name that isn't on the head (like G-Man or Agent G-Man).

Anyone else have issues with names?

DONT ASK FOR NAME IDEAS OR THOSE IDEAS GET TAKEN FIND SOME LIKE MINDED INVDIVIDUALS FIRST THEN DISCUSS IT IN PRIVATE

I play Rumblebee myself and i am even offering 100mil for a dude to give me the name on indom because i get so attached to my characters luckily i got it on excelsior but indom is where the pvp is

Rarely do I have real naming issues.

If I roll a character with a name in mind, sometimes it becomes problematic if that name and everything close to it is taken, especially if their name is tied closely to their concept.

When I made my semi-reformed Freakshow, an ele/rad 'troller. My first name choice was R34ct0r which was taken, my second and third choices were R34ctor and Nuk3, both available at the time. Had both been taken, I would have gone further down the line of electric and/or radiation terms until I found one that I liked the way it flowed in 1337. Sh0ck3r, F4ll0u7, etc.

When things go really pear shaped, I resort to other languages and/or using a thesaurus to try and find alternatives that have a good ring.

I also like to research things about said character to find something that works. When I made my bunny-girl stone brute on live, I started researching types of stone to find one that had a cool sound to it, of course when I found the mineral 'boninite' her name was set. Buninite >.>

Naming my characters is one of the hardest part, but one that I can go back to later. I usually have a concept, a back story, and a costume in mind, and hopefully a name that hasn't been taken. For me, the playability of a toon is the combination of its power set, costume design and name. If one of those things is off, I just delete and start over. I usually start off with some pretentious emo name like Destroyer of Worlds type or the typical color + talent or noun. But later I change them to names that make me smile and say "yup, today's a good day to be a hero" =).

Funny enough, I have a character with a power set and costume that I really liked. But I just couldn't think of a worthy name. So I named it Six-Six (because it was the 66th alt I was working on). Somehow, the name grew on me and he's my favourite toon to date.
