I haven't played in several months and wemhen I came back, I jumped straight to this challenge. Thanks a lot for pointing that out! I'll check it in game as soon as I can 1 1
Lyrium Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Day 9 First of all, big thanks to Yomo for reminding me that I don't need attuned purples. Non-attuned are better because I can boost them. Now, on to bussiness: Purchases. Remmeber that I already have all the non-purple IOs bought. If I can, I will change those Ragnarok for non-attuned versions. But first, I'll buy the rest I can bid on one new purple. Instabought That's all for now 1
Lyrium Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 (edited) Day 9 Super quick session. I did Palading site for Knight Errand badge, and crafted & listed 10 more enhancements One sold Let's try to be lucky I haven't been this poor since character creation Edited March 27 by Lyrium 1
Lyrium Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Day 9 As always, first the sales and purchases (spoiler: I didn't buy anything new) I upgraded the Ragnarok bid Let's see if Levantera still wants to talk with me! 1

Thanks Captain Canada! But I need to refuse, otherwise this wouldn't be a real challenge 😛 FUN FACT: You can get the Ouro portal power at level 1. There is no need to ask for a O Port ever again. Level One Ouroboros: 1. Take the tunnel transport, the portal next to the train in Atlas (ferry in Mercy Island), to night ward. Enter the midnighter mansion. This gets you the midnighter badge. 2. Go back to Atlas (Mercy Island), take the train to south Steel Canyon station (ferry to Cap au Diable north ferry), enter the midnight club and go to Cimerora. This gets you the Ouroboros portal power. 3. Drop the O Port and go to Ouroboros and hang out as a level 1 player. I always do the old-school tutorial, kill/arrest one mob in first zone to get inf to auction off the tutorial inspirations, buy a jet pack, and then go to Ouroboros before leveling up. Then I choose to either power level, play content, or play theme--like market only, etc. There are so many things to do in CoH-HC that there is no reason to play the same way every time. 2 1 1

Lyrium Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Day 9 My playtime today had some RL interruptions but it was a good day. The missus didn't want to play boardgames together (it's our hobby), so I had time for gaming. I managed to kill Kraken, do Tarikos SF, finish Levantera and do Syster Psyche TF Sales No new purchases I got to level 41, so I put some more slots and powers. Ice Blast set is now complete until level 50. I added some slots to Hover Some slots to Weave and used the one in Charged Armor New power (mule) Crafting and listing 21 enhancements (I'm clearing some stacks that were half-filled, but too slow). Three immediate sales Since I still have a lot of merits, I'm gonna do 10 more. Emptied trays/bags, and placed another bid for a Ragnarok. That means I have bought 3 out of 5 Ragnaroks, and I'm bidding for the other 2. Almost there! Level 41, I'm missing money for 5 more purples, and then catalysts/boosters. It's taking me more time than I thought, my initial idea was having everything by now. I'm playing more than I expected so I may be leveling too fast. Anyway, by level 45 everything should be done Current Status - 70 Enhancements for sale - 7 Purple enhancements missing (bidding for 2 of them) - Level 41 - 7,199,901 Inf I'll be out during Easter (in Spain. Thursday and Friday are Bank Holiday) See you on Sunday! 1

FFFF Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Interesting. I wrote up a guide that was very similar to this but with a focus on leveling a new character from 0 influence. The guide ends at level 20, and was mostly to make a point that you don’t need to farm. It’s nice to see a journal that goes all the way to end build. Here’s my guide. 1 1 1
Lyrium Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 Day 10 I logged in and even before I could take the first screenshot, I saw a Moonfire forming and I joined it! TFs are my favorite way to level ^_^ This got me to level 42 which means 3 more slots No yes! Time to see the AH! Awesomeness Sweet! Ragnarok set is completed Let's get the last Purple set: Let's finish with this: That's all the IOs done! (or waiting for a bid to be filled) Let me repeat that THAT'S ALL THE IO's DONE! I still have some influence left Now I need: - 55 Boosters --- 5x Flight in Swift --- 5x Jump in Hurdle --- 10x Recharge in Hasten --- 5x Recharge in Aim --- 5x Recharge in Chronos --- 20x All in Ragnarok (except proc) --- No boosters for Grav. Anchor in Time Wall. It's a mule - 12 Catalysts --- 6x each Blaster ATO set Which is basically this: I could just get them with Converters, but is not cost-effective. But if you are tired of crafting, for sure this is a very good option From the level up, I put two slots in Charged Armor: And the other one in Tough for the HP unique I have some merits (55) and converters (50), and 60 recipes, but no salvage to craft them. I got lucky and got salvages to craft 20 of them instantly, so let's do that Insta-sales That got me some money, so... Current status: Level 42 2
Lyrium Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 (edited) Day 10 A bit more to end the day. I unlocked Cimerora and then started Tina Macyntire arc. I leveled to 43 and got more slots. Tough completed, one more slots missing in Weave For reference, I'm soloing at +1/x4 with bosses. I can probably increase the difficulty, but right now I'm at the spot where I can quickly kill spawns without really having to worry for my life, so the XP comes at a good rate. I got some sales in the meantime: Which got me some influence (enough to bid on another stack of boosters) Also, all catalysts filled I'm bidding on 20 boosters, need 35 more: Current status at the end of Day 10 - All enhancements bought except for... - 4 Gravitational Anchor missing, but bids are placed - All catalysts bought - Bidding on 20/55 boosters - Selling 43 enhancements - 3 converters - 25 reward merits - Level 43 - 4,686,835 inf At this point I could just consider the challenge finished, but let's see how it ends. I still want to buy all mission/base/team transporters, maybe the crafting table, and I want to rebuy the two attuned Ragnarok as non-attuned Edited April 1 by Lyrium 3
Lyrium Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 Day 11 Sales! Purchases! 4/5 Grav. Anchors bought I put a bid for 50/55 boosters. I also raised a bit the bid Current inf: 2
Yomo Kimyata Posted April 1 Posted April 1 How many enhancements in total would you say that you crafted, converted, and sold? 1 Who run Bartertown?
Lyrium Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 2 minutes ago, Yomo Kimyata said: How many enhancements in total would you say that you crafted, converted, and sold? Great question! Around 250? Maybe a bit more. The good thing is that I took note of everything I crafted in this thread, tomorrow I'll review it and post exact numbers.
Lyrium Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Day 11, again Well, yesterday I had my usual post with all the details, and looks like I forgot to hit "Submit" before closing the computer, so everything is lost. I will provide all the info again, but sadly, with less pics of the processes I joined a mapserver event that triggered in Skyway. I didn't have a clue what that was about, but soon I got an invite to a league and the XP started pouring. In a very short time, I got to level 47!! After that, I decided to speed through Tyna's arc, stealthing whenever possible. Since I overleveled it, I increased the difficulty to +3, to keep the same relative levels. After Tyna, I started with Maria Jenkins, killing Infernal and Chimera. The next mission was te beginning of her SA, but I stopped there. After leveling, I got: - Future Pain (melee attack), which got 5 slots, and a full Mako's Bite set - Chronos (build Up), which got... nothing - 1 slot in Weave, which is now completed Stuff coming with the last 3 levels - Aim (because I have to pick something) - 2 slots in Stealth (I didn't realize these were missing) - 4 slots in Time Wall, for the purple immob set I emptied my bags and crafted 20 more enhancements, and 4 of them instal-sold. With that money, I put a bid on the boosters aI was missing, and raised the bid on all of them. Since I have some extra money, I bought ATT, Mission Teleporter, and Base Teleporter. Current bids. tonight I will probably raise them in order to really finish Status: 1
Lyrium Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Day 12 Quick break during lunchtime to check the AH Nothing bought Since I'm very impatient.... let's redo that Still some money left! 1

At level 7 go to the AE and do some missions for tickets, every 60 tickets gets you a low level recipe. I like to turn my EXP off and do missions for 300-500 tickets each, Bads in Space works well for this. Save up a couple thousand and turn them in for 40 or so useable level 10 recipes. Just don't fight EB in the AE, they don't drop tickets. Somehow I missed this comment, sorry! While this is very true, I'm trying to show a way to build a character while staying AWAY from AE 😛 Nothing wrong with AE, is just not my cup of tea 1

Lyrium Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Day 12 Sales! All boosters bought! Only this one missing So I bought the last QOL teleport I was missing Currently at 23 million 1
Lyrium Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Day 12 Super quick update, as it's late and tomorrow I need to wake un in less than 6 hours 😭 Did a Doctor Q. Got 244 merits. Got to 50. Crafted & listed 40 more recipes (everything I had pending), making this a total of 288 recipes crafted That's all. Tomorrow I'll do the final respec and show the final result. If I have time >__> 2
Lyrium Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 Day 13 - Finish! Finally, everything is done. Updating on yesterday, it was not my day. First I joined a Doctor Q, forgetting that today I had to wake up very early. Well, I'll be a bit sleepy todaym, no harm done. The good part is that this got me 244 merits and the last 2 levels and a half! As I said before, after that I went to craft the last 40 recipes I had in the bought tab. Then, the facepalm moment began. Remember how I got an attuned Ragnarok and mentioned I will sell it and get a non-attuned one? Well, that's what I wanted to do, since I had money to spare. And went an bought another Attuned enhancement 🤦♂️yay me! I didn't have money for a third Ragnarok, so I had to put both for sale. Thankfully today they sold and I bought the correct one. The last purple for Time Wall was also purchased, so time for respec! Or actualy, not a respec, I will just use some unslotters (which I'm getting with merits, although merits are better used for converting) The attuned Ragnarok is the proc, ATOs are superior now. I attuned the Perf. Shifter proc. I'm not boosting Time Wall. Damn my muscle memory, another attuned purple there Rest of powers One Artillery set (the one in Ice Storm) went to the AH to make room for the Ragnarok and Ice Mistral proc. It quickly sold while I was bussy boosting/upgrading. Current AH status: After collecting sales: And extra stuff (I bought 5 extra boosters... turns out maths are hard and I only needed 50) I will do another post with some final thoughts, things to do better, etc, but this is the end of the journey for Rime Lyrium! Final influence: 88,078,457 Enhancements pending to be sold: 46 25 Converters left 191 reward merits left 4 3 1 1
Lyrium Posted April 3 Author Posted April 3 (edited) So, what a trip! I honestly didn't know what to expect, as I mentioned, I did stop playing CoH for some months before returning, and jumped into this almost straight away. I was expecting to end with 100mil+, but I'm not that far away. And I bought all the teleporters! Some things to keep in mind, either for myself, or for whoever may read this in hopes of learning anything. - It's much easier if you start with some money (obviously!). All my chars start with 100 million, which is usually enough to bid on all ATOs and get a Panacea. Sometimes they may get a Hero Merit or two, depending on what I have laying around, so I'm not that merit starved a the beginning. I tend to abandon characters once they are level 50, sometimes with tons of things in the AH, converters, merits... - This character leveled faster than usual. The mapserver event gave a lot of XP very quick, but nothing else. If you take more time while leveling, you will sell more things. Leveling several characters at the same time will net you much more money - Try to craft as much as possible before the weekend! The weekend has been awesome for sales - If you have money to spare (check again the part of starting with money), put low bids on the most expensive enhancements. Purples, ATOs, Uniques... The more time your low bid is there, more chances to get a bargain and save some money (try to be realistic, anyway). - In tandem with the above, avoid Buy-it-nao prices. Give your bids at least 24h to fill, if you can - The wiki has info about all recipes. You can check there what recipes are better to buy. For example, some recipes at certain levels guarantee an uncommon->rare conversion - The more time you invest in the market, the more efficient you will be. I'm quite lazy and usually spend very little time on the market, but you can surf this thread and learn other tactics and tricks from more experienced people And some absurd maths: - Crafted & converted 288 enhancements - Let's say I spent around 10 converters per enhancement (2 to convert to rare, 8 to get something worthwile)... AT MOST. I'm quite sure I spent less! - That means 2880 converters, which means 960 Reward Merits - 960 Reward Merits gave me a full build and almost 100million extra Edited April 4 by Lyrium 7 1
Bionic_Flea Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Thanks for your diary. I really enjoyed it. What surprised me the most was the roller-coaster of money coming in and then going out until you were almost completely broke again. I also usually just give my new characters starting cash of 200-300 million to buy all the transports at level one and start bidding on ATOs, etc. I also keep a lot of commonly used stuff stocked in my base. Between my started cash, the base supply, and what I earn just selling my drops, crafting and converting set IO recipes, vendoring generics, and excess salvage, I end up at a 100 million plus inf banked on that at 50 and fully slotted. And that's when I really start making cash as my character can now kill efficiently at high settings and I no longer have double XP/No Inf. I still do sell my drops, crafting and converting as needed. Once I get them to T3 or T4 and consider them "finished," that's when I have them put in lowball bids on recipes and needed salvage. When I visit them again in a few months, they'll have everything needed to craft a bunch of stuff, place those for sale, and renew bids. So that even unplayed characters are making bank. 2

In this case, some character's never get Incarnated. It happened with this one, I didn't really enjoy Ice Blast. It has damage, lots of it... but I don't know, I didn't like it. So it will be placed with the rest of parked 50s, build finished, but that's all.
