Creature Commandos series (Max)

One of James Gunn’s animation passion projects comes to life with a top-line cast, including Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. (who will also appear in Superman), and Viola Davis and Sean Gunn reprising their sarcasm / random burbling from Suicide Squad.
 

We also add Indira Varma as The Bride and David Harbour as on-again/off-again love interest Eric Frankenstein, the inimitable Alan Tudyk as Dr Phosphorous, The Witcher’s Anya Chalotra slightly typecast as Circe, and Zoe Chao as neurotic amphibious genius Nina.

 

Anime style puts me slightly in mind of Aeon Flux… what do we think?

I will be reporting Dr. Phosphorous for directly ripping off the licensed look of Batman Beyond's Blight.  I can't believe...oh...both DC...hmm...

Not only that, Wikipedia:  "Doctor Phosphorus first appeared in Detective Comics #469 (May 1977)".

 

So Creature Commandos is actually Suicide Squad. A bit disappointing even if G.I. Robot is added in to the cast.

Looks great.  I don't get MAX, but I'll wind up watching this eventually, by hook or by crook.  And I can tell from that short trailer I'll almost certainly love it.  But, then, I love almost every DC animated feature that I watch.

 

It's weird.  The live action DC stuff is hit or miss for me, but the animated films almost always hit the mark.  I don't know why they can't get it going the other way around.  🤷‍♂️
