Emote Macros

Recommended Posts

General discussion about making emotes gestures handier to use. Some emotes can be evoked right in the Chat line by preceding them with a semicolon (;). So type ';grief' and your toon does the Grief emote. But other emotes cannot be used like this. If I create a macro or keybinding for and emote such as /macro SMP "emote crouch", some work, but others don't. I would like to create a macro to evoke the Idle > Stances poses such as /macro VP2 "emote Villain Stance 2", but that macro doesn't work. Why is that? And why do some one-word emotes such as Thrreaten, not work in the chat line with a semicolon? Typing ;threaten does not run the Threaten emote.  But in the 'before time' it did. Only drilling down through the emote menu >Interact > Threaten activates it now. Chat line typing is quicker and can be combined with an actual text chat, so both comment and gesture are linked. Such as

Chat:  Fear not! I'm a Hero!$$emote akimbo

Opportunities for role-play there.

Anyway, I'm seeking a better way to evoke Emote gestures. Looking to learn more about how it does work or how it could work.

Discuss.

In a roundabout way, the OP is looking for suggestions on better ways to use macros for emotes and looking for discussion on suggestions on how emotes in general could work better.

Great. That isn't a suggestion or feedback for the game though. So it still belongs in the General Discussion forum.

Step 1: Go here for reference.   https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Emotes

For that specific one? There's no "Emote villain stance 2." There is, however, stancevillain2. Similarly, there's no "Threaten" emote, but there is threathand. Don't go by how they're named in the in game menu. Use the list in the link above for the actual commands.
