Liquid Nitrogen change plz

Recommended Posts

I would love to see the knockdown taking off this power and replaced with immob since the power set doesn't seem to have immob.

Think having it as a location -spd with inherit immob proc that would cause damage when mob is immob would make better sense.

Plus being able to slot with slow movement and immob sets would help round out this power set.

Wasn't Liquid Nitrogen supposed to react with "Wet" to achieve some sort of freezing immobilization? I would prefer they finish that functionality and fully implement it. It's fun having powers that combo with other players abilities.

Sure, it might not be consistently useful or reliable... but if that's what you want, there are plenty of rounded powersets.

Unfortunately you've already missed the beta test discussion / forum flame war around this very subject.

In the end it finally came out that the devs were just obsessed with the idea of this set not having an AoE immobilization, they kept trying to find a work around that would allow players an immob if they combo'd it with something else. In the end it just ended up not happening simply because the players wanted it to happen but the devs had dug their heels in against it.

Being constantly offended doesn't mean you're right, it means you're too narcissistic to tolerate opinions different than your own.

Have you spent significant time playing it yet?

Back on beta I was quite vocal about wanting it to have an AoE immob and I've had to eat my words because the set doesn't need an AoE immob. It has so many layers of control that an immob is simply unneeded.

As far as control potential goes, (IMO) it's on par with Earth. You have to do some proc shenanigans to get the most out of its damage but the same could be said for most control set. I've built a Dom (Psi) and 2 Trollers (TA & Storm) so far and I have every intention of making more because it's very effective and fun to level up. One of those trollers (Arse/TA) has turned out to be the best Controller Farmer in my sizable troller stable.

Not once in the 150 levels of those 3 toons did I feel like I wanted/needed or was missing an AoE immob. I absolutely understand why one would be hesitant and take notice of the immob absence but give it a try if you haven't and maybe give it another chance if you have. It's a very strong set as it stands. I prefer it on trollers but I may be biased. I think the next one on my list will either be Arse/Dark or Arse/Marine

You know, the funny thing is, people would have been far less opposed to the 'Wet' thing on the whole if it was handled at all sensibly.

Or if it was in either of Arsenal Control's thematic matches: Traps and Trick Arrow.

Arse Control is an overcomplicated set laden with pointless conditional statements that secretly disable aspects of your powers, but only if you read the CoD entry or are tech-savvy enough to understand why.  It has severe issues setting up Containment vs all but the easiest enemy groups, and legitimately no viable Containment on AVs due to lacking a ST Immobilize as part of the attack chain.  The AoE Immobilize is one part of the issue but the ST Immobilize is a huge part of how Controllers fight AVs.  The devs clearly designed the set for Dominators with almost no thought given to Controller issues.  It will never get an Immobilize: I was there and I know that they'll never relent.

That said, one solution is reevaluating how Containment works as a whole to divorce it from the need for Immobilizes in most contexts.  It's definitely possible to fix Containment, which is like correctly putting the "horse before the cart" and addressing the real issue.  There were ideas to make Sleeps and other statuses have better Containment uptime (I know the plan, I know anything and everything I want to know) but those didn't make it into the latest update.  Maybe next time?

Personally? I'd like to see an Immobilize, but not at the cost of the AoE Slow/Knockdown element. The whole 'wet' thing was unfinished, but I could see something adapted from it.

Perhaps it it could work like Oil Slick Arrow, where it can be targeted by players and enemies alike, and if something inflicts Cold damage on it (such as Cryo Freeze Ray), it triggers an AoE Immobilize.
