Fire/Cold -Res Corruptor Help

Hey a while ago i saw a somebodies Post on a Fire/Cold Corruptor for -res who had the math for how much -Res it could apply figured out.

 

Sadly i cant find the post anymore so i am asking for some help with this Build

 

1. What is the best Ancillary/Epic Pool Power set that would be best for this build.

 

2 What Incarnates should i be using Alpha/Interface/Judgment/Destiny/Lore/Hybrid

 

3. Which IO Sets should i use and which Powers should get how many Slots?

 

I am new to City of Heroes and this is the first Character i played to 50 and beyond so far ive noticed i had Endurance problems which i mostly fixed with Cardiac Alpha and i wanted to go for Reactive Core Flawless Interface for the -res Proc

For attacks, I slot single target by default for basic slotting 1 Acc, 1 End, 3 Damage. 1 Recharge if I have slots. For multi-target, I swap out the recharge for another Acc. I would not slot a range in a power unless it is part of a IO set. If you are having end issues, I would look at slotting versus Incarnates. Heat Loss alone should cover you. The link below will cover much of your starting point slotting for things like Stamina and Health*. A lot/most people use Health as a way to add in more Recovery. I like adding the Preventive Medicine Absorb proc in Spirit Ward since it is global and thus always has a chance of firing. I would take Temp Invulnerability over Fore of Nature. Force of Nature has a low End cost anyway.

 

* Ignore cost coming from the market. They are cheaper to a default.

FYI, if you use the same -Res proc in a build and they all trigger, they don't stack. They would at best lengthen how long the -Res lasts. Infrigidate and Benumb need Acc to hit. I can see you dumped a bunch of influ into a build, but I'm not sure what you are building for. I don't see the point of 6-slotting Fire Blast with Apoc. Sure, it gives you 5% Def to Psionic, but you aren't building for Def anyway. You don't even have either of the +3% Def IOs. You can swap out/remove the slot for damage and still be more than fine.  You skipped the shields so I lean on the idea it is a solo build, but your Def/Res numbers aren't much to write home about. I would 2-slot Power Transfer in Stamina with the Heal Self proc while leaving the PS proc. SS and Mystic Flight seems a bit weird. Having 8 pts. of KB protection should be fine.

Pretty sure the max -resistance that a fire/cold corruptor could potentially put on a target would be 100. Now remember that resistance is its own debuff resistance, and the effects are applied through multiple targets so you're not going to likely hit that number in practical situations.

 

  1. Sleet 22.5%
  2. Heatloss 22.5%
  3. Achilles 20%
  4. Annihilation 12.5%
  5. Fury of the Gladiator 20%
  6. Reactive 2.5%

This requires you to take reactive, have slotted all three -res procs (which forces fury of the Gladiator into your nuke, a pool power like cross punch, or an epic pbaoe), and to use during sleet/heatloss.

 

So you'll only see -100 of the target had no resistance, and everything procs, but it still adds up pretty decently.

Yea i do this with Inferno i updated the build and also swapped To Dark Mastery for Dark Embrace which adds more res for the build i was lacking in Toxin, Negative, Energy, Psychic

 

Also removed Apocalypse 6 in Fireblast and replaced it with Decimation for more Damage uptime with Build up

Moved the KB from Karma to Vengeance and finished the Arctic Fog set for more res and Mrez which puts me at 100% Repel and Teleport aswell + the Res

 

also replaces the 1 Luck of the gambler set with Reactive Defenses as it gives better Res and also has Recharge Enhancement at 6 Slots which is higher than the Luck of the Gambler one + the Scaling Damage resistance which gives All res% is very nice.

 

I am trying to stack -res and have perfect uptime on Heat Loss, Sleet, Rain of Fire etc. having Annihilation on Sleet and Rain of Fire lets you Proc better and have higher uptime on the -res, also on packs you can space them out while the other is on cooldown so you always have either sleet or Rain of Fire up for each pack

And of course all the damage Fire does is very nice.

 

Now i am wondering with Burnout if i repeat Heatloss and Sleet who have inherent -res if they stack with themselves or refresh their old application.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but it looks like without Vengeance you are practically defenseless. And without Rune of Protection your resists aren't that high either. Are you relying on these? Very curious...

I haven't looked at the latest build, but it doesn't seem like this was addressed. RoP has a long recharge which can't be altered. It's helpful to rotate it with Melee or use the Alpha to boost Res numbers as well. I would rather go Tough + Weave + Epic Armor than work in RoP. I like RoP on Def based melee characters who already are getting their armor in their primary or secondary. Sonic can offer the ability to have rather high Res across the board if you build for it.

So, here's the thing about using Decimation in Fire Blast:

Fire blast has a 4 second base recharge without putting any recharge in it.  According to @bopper's PPM list, the Decimation:Chance for Build Up has a PPM of 1. 
With just the proc, and relying solely on global recharge, it has a chance to fire 8.67% of the time. Each time. So, odds are sooner or later it might hit, but I think you'd get much more mileage out of a damage enhancement. Or a better damage proc, but I'd not go that route for the same reasons - just not a very big chance to fire. 

Decimation is also a set that tops out at 40. You'd get about 7 pts of damage more from a level 50 set if the decimation build up doesn't fire. If it does, you get 10 seconds of more damage. But again, over the course of a minute, the math says it might fire once. That's your call. Some folks might be okay with that. 

I would go with the apoc in Fire blast, or one of the ATO sets. 
Mainly because Fire blast is one of the earlier attacks chosen, and when you exemp, you might want that faster global recharge.
