Advice Needed: Best Lore Choice for Robotics/Electrical Affinity Build

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I’m currently running a Robotics/Electrical Affinity Mastermind build and am looking for recommendations on the best Lore Incarnate Abilities to complement this setup. Specifically, I’m wondering which Lore pet options would maximize synergy with this build. Any insights on whether Core or Radial paths would be most effective for my role would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your advice!

My now Build Robotics/EA << I'm curious about the best store that suits my build

My English is bad, but I am posting a question because I am curious.

I would think that the Warworks, which are robots from Praetoria (gold side of the game) would be an ideal choice if you're just looking for something that matches robots.  Also, you might consider Robotic Drones, though they're little.

The Clockwork might also work, but don't quite fit the lore, as the Clockwork are powered by psi energy, and are therefore not a standard robot.    CORRECTION: these are Praetorian Clockwork and should work fine.  See twozerofoxtrot's correction below.

Lastly, since you're character is also Electrical Affinity, you might look into Storm Elementals.  These look like balls of lightning.  Unfortunately, they're bright pink with no way to recolor them, at least that I've found.

Here's the Wiki page with the list of all Lore pets.

Sadly a misleading name. Lore Clockwork are the Praetorian Clockwork, not the little metal amalgams you fight in Synapse.

They'd actually be a good fit in most cases.

Thematics have been covered already, so I'll just come in from the performance angle...

Unless you're soloing a pylon then the invulnerable SUPPORT Lore pets are typically the only flavour ever worth bothering with; because all the others will pull aggro and die extremely quickly unless you're buffing them to the gimlets and spamming heals on them. This is even true on Masterminds with their extra Pet Aura IOs available.

However Masterminds are nearly unique in CoX (other than very specific VEAT Crab soldier setups) in that the vast majority of their damage output is spread across a wide number of pets.

Therefore a regular meta support Lore pet like Carnies or Seers won't do much for them, nor will Clockwork (which can keep 3-4 allies defense buffed permanently whilst it's out, but not 7!). Robotic Drones and IDF etc also technically have an AOE defense toggle buff but the uptime is very poor.

You can look through all the various options available... but in short, your optimal options are the following:

+ Talons of Vengeance (applies decent uptime AOE buffs to damage resistance, defense and healing received throughout it's entire summoning duration),

+ Arachnos (triggers an AOE 90s duration Defense buff immediately, once per summoning)

+ Banished Pantheon (deals AOE damage and applies a -damage debuff on enemies; plus a decent uptime AOE allied buff to Regeneration, Recovery and Recharge rate. Even if pets don't get affected by recharge rate buffs/debuffs!)

Thank you for the correction, 20F, and yes, poor naming.  I've actually never used them even with my own Robots/Electrical Affinity MM because I saw "clockwork" and preferred to not use the psi-based Primal Clockwork in my concept.  I might have to revisit that to see if I'd prefer Warworks or Praetorian Clockwork.

On a MasterMind, I always try to choose Lore Pets that a) offer a different damage type than what my pets put out, which allows diversity in instances where my opponents are resisting my primary henchman attacks and/or b) something that thematically matches my bio and/or powerset/pets.

Because the truth is, Lores offer very little value beyond the level shift you get for slotting a T3.  They aren’t up often enough to really matter all that much.

But if all else fails, choose the BP radial side.  That untargetable pet throws out a nice debuff rain which helps against tougher enemies.  Ugly as sin though.

(i) The Difference between a T3 and a T4 Lore is "5mins up + 10mins down" vs "5 mins up + 5 mins down". This is what makes stuff like T4 Carnies' Forge very good for damage-dealing ATs; although Talon's Empowering Burst is the best bet for MM henchmen.

(ii) The BP untargettable Support Pet's rain AoE inflicts a -damage debuff, not a -resistance debuff - and a pretty forgettable amount, although it's still an immortal pet that deals damage. The real "buffing" aspect of that pet lies in Empowering Burst which is a "30secs up + 30secs down" AoE buff to recovery/regen/recharge time.
