Equilibrium "Grammaton Cleric" DPS/off-tank idea

Not sure if this has been tried but I'm thinking of going Dual Pistols/Super Reflexes with some powers from Presence in an attempt to be a dps/off-tank. the main idea is to dodge tank with super reflexes and the occasional self buff to not die, and provoke to keep aggro.

I can somewhat see where at higher levels this combo could be some kind of tank and as I'm only playing with some IRL friends I feel like it could work.

Any thoughts on this?

SR is definitely a great armor set, but I think calling it an off-tank might be pushing it a bit. SR is more of an all-rounder with a slight offensive edge due to the recharge boost it gives. DP/SR is a fine and extremely common Sent build because of the fantasy it provides, so if you want to run it then run it, as long as you keep your expectations grounded.

Something really, truly tanky would be Dark/Invuln (one of the tankiest armors paired with a debuffing primary) if you're aiming for that specific gameplay niche rather than a Matrix/Tomb Raider/whatever character fantasy that SR provides.

Also I think it's often forgotten that tanking things doesn't just being highly survivable, but also generating threat and taunting.  Sentinels don't really get a taunting ability so off-tanking without a taunt won't really work (IMHO).  Brutes, and to some extent, some scrappers, could off tank since they're both durable and can taunt.

If you're looking to off-tank I'd recommend a brute or a taunting scrapper.

Lately, my Elec/Rad has been able to pull aggro pretty well, but the key is holding it once someone throws more DPS than you.  If you can make them non-functional/out of commission quickly, that'll do.

The effort you're going for to 'tank' would honestly be better spent in increasing your DPS.  In a group, many Sents can run in, throw some proverbial fireballs, draw the initial aggro and survive it... as long as a team is there to throw down and finish the group.  If you want protracted tankiness, and holding aggro like a tank, I think you'll be disappointed.

Full disclosure - I love Sents.  And Tanks are my other love.  I like to try and build the 'I may be Archtype X, but I buff the team like this!' often.  It's a challenge, and rewarding when people stop and say "I thought you were a tank/defender/corrupter" because you leveraged another angle in the AT.

I'm still for a dual pistols melee set with point-blank/melee range shots and pistol whipping.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
