Krogoth Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 I have created a Flatpak for running Mids on linux, It can be found at: https://github.com/Krogoth2787/mids-flatpak I have only testing it on PCs where I already had Mids running, but it should work on any Linux distro. 2
Krogoth Posted May 14 Author Posted May 14 I have updated the Flatpak a few times since I initially made this thread. The most recent release (v0.6) now uses the MidsReborn 3.7.11.2 archive. Releases can be found at https://github.com/Krogoth2787/mids-flatpak/releases 3 1
Snokle Posted Wednesday at 11:13 PM Posted Wednesday at 11:13 PM Thanks for the work on this, but I was wondering for the 8.0 Net support is this primarily needed in Wine? or can it be through Linux? I was able to have setup 8.0.17 for Core and Net on my system, and it is not recognizing that I have the required .Net set I have installed. Psicy Chill - Ice/Psi/Psi | Sive Ni Brielan - Plant/Earth/Fire | Elemental Elder Lord - Earth/Fire/Fire | Selinia Baneheart - Dark/Therm/Fire | Mylia Stenetch - Necro/Dark/Soul | Radiated Shot - Rad/Arch/Mace | Nameless Witch - Storm/Water/Mu | Phantom Racer - Fire/Cold/Scorp | Neera Darkspar - Beam/Temp/Soul | Neera Etra - Dark/SR | Shieldbreaker - Elec/Shield/Mu | Frozen Tombstress Ice/Rad/Ice | Subliminal Darkness - Psi/Dark/Psi | Mirana Darkblade - Katana/Regen/Soul | Máistir Fiach - SoA Huntmaster | Night Reaver - SoA Widow | Sweet Senpai - SoA Bane

That's the one you need, and it is distinct from the .NET8 Runtime.

There are required files from it that are not part of the Linux .Net Runtime or SDK
Krogoth Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago (edited) As it currently stands the flatpak cannot update to 3.7.14.3. The in-app updater does nothing through wine. I do know how to manually install the 3.7.14.3 update, however doing this in the flatpak causes mids to permanently freeze upon opening. I have been exploring solutions to this issue but have not found one yet. If anyone needs help with setting up the system wine mids install or installing through bottles feel free to reach out to me. I spent over 3 hours trying on Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS. I tried posts about Lutris, Wine, and via Bottles. One time the app kinda opened, and even looked more visible on my gigantic TV that it did before. But, I just ended up in a loop of it crashing over and over. Hopefully a solution that I can wrap my foggy brain around will come along soon. As it is, I just reinstalled the flatpak version from before so I can at least see the builds I had. I know the numbers won't make sense anymore, but there's comfort in following a plan, even not a great one.

If you want to try bottles again, Here is the step by step process I used for bottles: For bottles: flatpak install bottles Open Bottles Create New Bottle Name it MidsReborn Leave it as application Switch the Runner to sys-wine-10.0 (if it does not show up in your terminal flatpak install wine, choose 24.08) Click Create After the Bottle is created Go to Settings, Switch the Windows Version to 11 Hit the Back Arrow to get back to the MidsReborn Bottle Screen Go to Dependencies: Click the Download Arrow on dotnetcoredesktop8 Click the Download Arrow on vcredist2022 Download the latest MRB zip file from midsreborn.com Extract it to ~/.var/app/com.userbottles.bottles/data/bottles/bottles/MidsReborn/drive_c/users/yourusername/AppData/Roaming/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn You will need to create the LoadedCamel and MidsReborn Folders In Bottles click Add Shorcuts Browse to ~/.var/app/com.userbottles.bottles/data/bottles/bottles/MidsReborn/drive_c/users/yourusername/AppData/Roaming/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn select MidsReborn.exe Click the Play Icon to launch MidsReborn It should launch and will probably need to update a few times. If it doesn't relaunch after an update just launch it again. If you want a launch option for mids in your main menu, click on the 3 dots and Add Desktop Entry. It may pop up a webpage with instructions on how to allow permission to do this. They are very straight forward. If you want to save build files into your Linux home directory you will need to install flatseal flatpak install flatseal Run it and in Bottles scroll down to Filesystems and either click the toggle next to All user files or the folder icon next to Other files and type in the path to where you want access. (for example I save all my build files to my dropbox which is at ~/Dropbox) If you already have bottles installed you can skip down to create a new bottle. Edited 11 hours ago by Krogoth
