ThaOGDreamWeaver Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 (edited) So the last season of What If? drops fir Christmas again… …and while I’m glad to get one last run, I’m kinda sad too. Letting writers run wild with anything and anyone in the toybox is a great way to explore new story ideas (and sometimes kick off whole new arcs). Might not be game-changing but damnit if they weren’t fun. Peg’s back, though less as the Anchor Being of the series than a guest shot this time (Hayley being busy with the final Mission Impossible flick.) Sam, Bucky, Kahoori, Wong and Red are also joining the party: some Celestials and alt-watchers show up: Moon Knight does some light assembling: Kat and Howard somehow get stuck together: Agatha puts on a show of cosmic proportions for Kingo: Shang-Chi heads out West with Deadeye Kate: and while the mighty Thor might be missing, there’s still someone around to bring the thunder. All in all, it’s (mostly) lived up to billing and brought new ideas to the table, while pencilling in around some others. Gonna miss it. Gonna miss it. Sounds like they got the voice for the part, too. IYNYN. Yeah, I'm not happy its ending either. While, yes, it'll be 24 episodes when done, that's not even a full season in American television (in the 1980s). Honestly, What If...? has such vast possibilities, I'd have thought they'd at least have gone for 5 seasons, if not 7. Even then, it would not be close to the 79 episodes of original Star Trek, a.k.a. just 3 years. It allows the actors to play the roles long after they physically cannot, and can be produced cheaper than, say, a season of She-Hulk. (Okay, low blow, but still...) I'm left wonder why the plug is being pulled. Edited November 12, 2024 by Techwright
InvaderStych Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Full Episode list ... https://thedirect.com/article/marvel-what-if-season-3-episode-list-confirmed Thoughts so far ... Ep1: Sort of standard stuff here. Nifty Kaiju-Hulks for the team to fight with that Voltron Energy. Would have enjoyed it more if they had stuck with the 80s era Saturday Morning Cartoon style of the show that the kid is watching in the opener throughout the whole episode. Yes, I know, that breaks from the style they've established, but COME ON, give a guy some of that nostalgia already. Ep2: Deeply entertaining, doubly so for anyone who's worked "on set." Jarvis as the stressed out 2AD (technically he's more of a 1AD, but for some reason Stark calls him a 2nd in dialogue) is pitch perfect. Great homage to early era Hollywood and the Cosmic Agatha artwork is fantastic. Hahn and Nanjiani have both got doctoral degrees in the delivery of sarcasm. Crowd animation in the big dance number seemed strange to my eye, but that didn't take much away from the whole. Ending is a bit of a stretch from a character perspective, but I let that slide since it was so pretty to look at. 😉 1 You see a mousetrap? I see free cheese and a f$%^ing challenge.

Techwright Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Watching it now. 1st episode was mediocre. Sorry, but it's my two cents worth. Underway in second episode and I love that they took the Howard Stark/ Howard Hughes parallels one step farther by having Stark delve into Hollywood.
