First time stalker, playing with dedicated group.

Hi all, I'm thinking of playing a Stalker for the first time.

I will be playing with a dedicated group, all I know is that we will have a Brute.

I am torn between Street Justice and Electric Melee. This will not be an unlimited budget build.

I am thinking Electric Melee because it is the only version with good ST damage. I also like the thought of Street Justice because of character concept, but I'm not sure whether or not the combo system is something I could tolerate.

 

How complicated is the combo system, or do I even need to worry about it?

So, the Combo system is something you'll want to pay attention to. Street Justice does have the potential to deal massive damage, but it's all backloaded into a level 3 Crushing Uppercut! Stalker StJ actually has an easier time going about this since Assassin's Strike grants 2 combo points.

 

However, if your budget is tight, you might wanna think about it a bit! The reason being is that Crushing Uppercut needs something close to like 350% recharge (including enhancement and global values) invested into it for a seamless rotation. That can get pricey! If you're ok with having to finish your combo with Spinning Strike every other rotation, then this is a non-issue. Your ST damage will still be spectacular thanks to AS!

 

As for Electric Melee, I can't really speak from experience since I prefer playing it on my Tanker, but AS definitely does a great job of shoring up it's flaws, and Lightning Rod is very nice to have on an AT that's known for not being great at AoE.

 

It would also perform much better on a budget!

I will say this, my absolute favorite toon to play is my Elec/SD stalker. I know that’s not original and people talk about it all the time, but as Spaghetti said, AS does a great job giving elec some much needed single target damage, and having both teleport blasts is so fun to play. Highly recommend.

I don't like long animations. I really did enjoy playing my StJ Stalker to 50, and really need to finish off the T4 aspect at some point. While not one of your picks, I would take Savage over Elec due to the better animations. Both do well in AoE, have TP type attacks, and being a Stalker helps their ST damage. I concede Savage has a less desirable damage type.
