Marshal_General Posted November 24 Posted November 24 I lack a beast MM and have a concept for a character who rescues animals. She has three small dogs, one larger breed dog and two cats that she rescued. She finds a magical plot device and is transformed into a catgirl and her fuzzy friends into her animal henchpets. I will use the panther travel power even though it still turns off toggles. I have two builds I am looking at. The Kinetics one would be more fun since inertial reduction and siphon speed still work when she becomes a panther Ever seen a panther jump half way across Brickstown? Its not the safest though it would do the most damage and be the most busy. The time build is a bit safer and has a few different tools I did not take any of the beast attacks as the pets seem to build up 10 stacks of PM well enough on their own. The idea is that she gets into melee with her friends and just starts wailing on people. I am not entirely happy with the placement of some of the powers. What do you think? Beast 1 - Mastermind (Beast Mastery - Time Manipulation).mbd Beast 2 - Mastermind (Beast Mastery - Kinetics).mbd
Force Redux Posted November 30 Posted November 30 I didn't see an answer for this, I just want to offer some quick thoughts: honestly I think time beats out kinetics. The additional protection for The Mastermind particularly getting up close and in melee puts time ahead. Ken will end up doing more damage but time is a bit safer. 1 @Force Redux on Everlasting ----- (read my guide) ----- Gather the Shadows: A Dark Miasma Primer for Masterminds

I have been messing around on the test server and I am finding kinetics a bit hectic in trying to keep the pets alive, buffed while I melee, but boy can I turn into a panther with the zoomies. 1
Force Redux Posted December 1 Posted December 1 I tried both. I try find Kinetics to be too busy for me, as a player. Time is more consistent and has better tools IMO. I hope you are enjoying Beasts...I like them. @Force Redux on Everlasting ----- (read my guide) ----- Gather the Shadows: A Dark Miasma Primer for Masterminds
kelika2 Posted December 1 Posted December 1 defense/-tohit combos or stacking tends to be more fun. kinetics is highly overrated, damage capped pets sounds super awesome and super leet and super sweet but at the same time when you have 7ish other fulcrum'd humans in the same team your pets will not have time to aoe for various reasons: 1.) its on cooldown and your speedboost wont do shit 2.) their AI will refuse to use it for whatever reason 3.) they use it too early or too late 4.) 300% per pet isnt as huge as you think it is since enhancements take up 100~ of that anyways so go /time 1
Force Redux Posted December 1 Posted December 1 I'm with @kelika2. Time really offers a lot in one package. @Force Redux on Everlasting ----- (read my guide) ----- Gather the Shadows: A Dark Miasma Primer for Masterminds
Force Redux Posted December 1 Posted December 1 (edited) I think my preferred secondaries to go with beasts, are darkness, time, and Marine. Darkness: all the usual great reasons to have this power set, including controls extra pet, debuffs out the yin yang, and the pets being all melee are reliably where you want them to be for the massive healing. Time: virtually smorgasburg of a variety of powers packaged together, with Defense and most of the things also affecting The Mastermind being top of you. It's like an armor set for you and your pets. Marine: like darkness, your pet's being melee mean they are in the right position to receive all the goodness that Marine offers predictably. Like both of the other sets, this one offers quite a bit of many different things that synergize well together especially for melee.
