CrazyBadger Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) Just like there are beacons that allow one to use a transporter to tp between two spots in the same sg base, why not make it so that these links/beacons can tp one to a coalition's sg base? Edited February 7 by CrazyBadger 2
Rudra Posted February 7 Posted February 7 The maps themselves aren't linked. So the question becomes how to link a base object in one base to another base object in another base. The base teleporter beacons we have access to are specifically linked to specific target objects. Alpha only goes to Alpha for instance, and does so within the confines of a single map. I'm not saying your request can't be done, but I am saying there are technical hurdles that may be excessive to overcome. 1
Oklahoman Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I like the idea, but I'd rather see a new beacon that you can both name and attach a base code to. That would remove the coalition piece of it, but would give you some more flexibility. So, for example, you could create a beacon in your base with a name of "Okie's Stupid Oklahoma-shaped Base" and point it to OKIE-8602. Unfortunately, I don't think we have anything like that in a base already, so my guess is that it's not easy to do. Would be cool though. You could create mazes that run across multiple bases. 4 Oklahoman, Okie, Vayne Glorious, Sooner Magic, Treehugging Wacko, Boy Band, etc Farming Incarnate Salvage - 1 salvage roll every 15 minutes! || Why NO TELLS to join your little MSR thing? The mazes I could make if I could use multiple base plots... (Edit: And then the /stuck command would need to be disabled so the only way out is to finish getting through....) lemming Posted February 7 Posted February 7 (edited) Right now you can do it by having them start at the entry everyone starts at, then at the end of the maze, you get another entrycode /enterbasefrompasscode NextMaze-NNNNN written on the wall, which puts you in NextMaze start. Repeat as wanted. Question: Does /stuck just put you at the start? (Of course, you can jump back to start by re-entering the passcode) Edited February 7 by lemming more info

(Edit: It was rather frustrating that with a single exception, everyone that found my "one room maze" immediately used /stuck to get back to the entrance portal rather than solve how to exit. And the person that didn't immediately use the command still had me explain how to get out.) Edited February 7 by Rudra Edited again to correct "the" to "to". 1
lemming Posted February 7 Posted February 7 I think some of the mazes @darcy and crew have done with Halloween are pretty intricate. And yea, people can shortcut, but having other people in the maze seemed to help some of the goal parts. So, possibly more social of a fix than mechanics?

While we're at it - could it just be keyed the same way? External beacon aleph -> linked base's aleph beacon (and defaults to the entry portal if there is no matching beacon). Also, since mazes are fun, you guys can add the Oranbegan Roulette to them if you want to really bump the difficulty: Adding multiple copies of a beacon means the teleporters send people to a random one of those points. You can even weight it by adding multiple copies of the same point in a single spot. (So a maze branch could send 4 out of 5 people on the normal path, and the others could get a secret room)

Either that or a beacon that lists the available coalition bases to enter, same as the base portals do when you click on them. 1
