RooGirl Posted Sunday at 10:29 PM Posted Sunday at 10:29 PM I'm having so much fun with my Battle Axe/Radiation Armor Brute. She's level 23 and I'm doing mostly solo PVE levelling. What are some good power pools for this? Not looking at end-game min-maxing, just fun and useful stuff as I play through story arcs. I already have Sorcery for the character concept and flight, and Stealth doesn't work with the concept. Thanks!

Fighting (for Tough) and Speed (for Hasten) will likely be the best performing ones. Radiation Armor is a resistance based set, so the closer you can get to the S/L resistance cap (90% on a Brute) the better. It also has a substantial number of good long-recharge clicky powers (Particle Shielding, Radiation Therapy, Ground Zero) that will benefit greatly from as much additional +recharge as you can get. As for the 4th pool? Personally I always go with leaping for Combat Jumping... it's a solid place for a LoTG +7.5% Rech and gives solid unsuppressed movement; and will also help your fine control when you're flying as an additional bonus. You shouldn't really need any additional attacks; as Battleaxe is plenty good at both AoE and ST damage by itself. However it is very Endurance heavy. So stick a Theft of Essence proc in Radiation Therapy and your endurance issues will vanish. Your Epic/Patron pool choice isn't a huge deal... although Dark Mastery (for Tar Patch) or Fire Mastery (for Melt Armor) or Leviathan Mastery (for Arctic Breath) or Soul Mastery (for Gloom and either Dark Obliteration or Darkest Night) would be the "cookie cutter" picks. Spamming Axe Cyclone to draw things into range of your other AoEs is typically the way to go on Battleaxe; and IMO the best bang for your buck in that is going to be a Force Feedback +Rech and a Fury of the Gladiator -Res which you can slot from level 20+. I'd also very much recommend sticking slotting up Ground Zero for damage (leaning into procs) since it has such a high target cap. Radiation Therapy is usually also slotted with procs (both damage and utility) but using it for damage will be less of a priority when you're levelling up. Edited Monday at 01:25 AM by Maelwys 1
tidge Posted Monday at 03:24 AM Posted Monday at 03:24 AM If you have never tried Combat Teleport on a melee character, let this be the first one that you do try it on. 1 1
hakurr Posted Monday at 05:15 AM Posted Monday at 05:15 AM i like to either take experimentation for speed of sound i like to use jaunt to pop from group to group or use or take Force of Will for Mighty Leap so you can get stop just another ability to knock all the enemies on there butts. 1
RooGirl Posted Monday at 06:18 AM Author Posted Monday at 06:18 AM Thanks for all the ideas and information!
Maelwys Posted Monday at 08:01 AM Posted Monday at 08:01 AM Since you're using the Sorcery Pool, you'll already have Translocation available via Mystic Flight. Setting up keybinds to temporarily toggle on Mystic Flight so you can Translocate to the likes of [The position of the currently selected target] and/or [The current position of your mouse cursor] via powexec_location will be a game changer for quickly bamfing around the battlefield even if you don't take Combat Teleport (which just animates a bit faster and requires a bit less faffing around with binds) 1 1
WuTang Posted yesterday at 01:27 PM Posted yesterday at 01:27 PM I like any of the pools that allow me to teleport around. I've used them all in various ways and for various reasons and they always add a layer of fun, utility, and versatility. Plain ole flying is boring to me now. I also dearly love Super Speed; the phase shift that accompanies it can be invaluable if you want to "stealth" around without actually having stealth. I think the movement pools is what makes me feel all superhero-y. Most of the time if I'm making a speedster, I make a point to max out the run speed 120.24 mph is blazingly fast AND if you get the mini mode costume modifier, you are just a blur. Be mindful though if you are running a Brute or Tanker with a speed power, with it toggled on, it reduces your threat by 100.
