Darksider Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I didn't have this problem a when I first started back up some months ago. Lately, the game keeps crashing me while I am in teams doing missions, but sometimes elsewhere. Yes, I turn off the major FX in game when I am in teams. My graphics can handle the game, so can my computer. It's not a connection issue. The game dumps me out to a crash report which I send. I am looking for a solution to end the crashes. Please.
Healix Posted May 3 Posted May 3 My first thought is that there may be some corrupted files. (I had problems a while back, and this was the suggestion by one of our awesome GMs here) Find your HC directory, which is probably under C:/Games/Homecoming; if not, you can open HC Launcher and click the "Screenshots" button. From there, you can navigate to the main folder. Once in the main folder, look for the folders labeled "Accounts", "Architect", "Costumes", "Demos", "Powercust", "Screenshots" and/or "Settings". Depending on what game features you've used or not used, not all of these folders may be present. These folders contain personal data (like costumes, screenshots, and settings, like the folders say) that would be lost if you just delete the directory wholesale, so back up those folders somewhere (like on your desktop or something). You can either copy them or move them, doesn't make a huge difference. Once you've done that, delete everything else. No need for an uninstall wizard or anything like that. Next, download and install a fresh version of HC launcher from here: https://manifest.cohhc.gg/launcher/hcinstall.exe Before you move anything back into your new HC directory, ensure that the game works as it's supposed to. You'll still be able to log in and access your characters. The only things you moved were client-side backups that don't impact the game. Do NOT restore the back ups yet at this point, just check to make sure the game works. If it does, you can move everything you backed up, into the new HC directory, allowing you to restore your binds, access costumes you've saved, etc. if you also have installed the CoH Modder, make sure you have this pasted on the extra launch parameter line: -assetpath assets\mods Like you, I have a computer that is able to handle the game, but I still created a few macros that I can use during extreme high activity time (like the Mapserver Event) to reduce lag and also give me a clearer view of what's going on /macro "PAR" ++noparticles (click to remove particles, click again to restore them) /macro GFX reloadgfx (Unloads all textures causing them to be reloaded dynamically) /maxinactivefps 1 (used for lag) /neterrorcorrection 1 (For better connection to server) I hope that helps you! Forever grateful to be back in my city!
particleray Posted May 5 Posted May 5 im following this thread. I have been having really hard crashes this past week was well.
Gibbler Posted May 5 Posted May 5 In my opinion most issues with games can be solved by disabling IPV 6 (TCP[IPv6) ethernet. Best practice verify all files after a crash, unhandled exception error box may appear, ideally send a full memory dump report or use the new option to allow more in-depth datamining to better identify issues, if you verify and no files are corrupted, that should indicate its not the game 99% the time. Create an exception for your firewall. Create an exception for windows defender/360 or any other third party file scan. -disable browser antivirus /malware app's while in game. Disable Windows updates, event log shows - if only set to manual it will crash the game, Esp win7 ( if your using 3rd party driver updater software Auslogics etc, you'll want to re-enable updates when using that software) Make sure your network card has Full negotiation -Speed Duplex Jumbo frame - disable. Jumbo frames only support tcp/ip interrupt moderation -disable. the greater the interrupt rate, more interrupts, more CPU, greater link speeds =poor performance Auto disable gigabit -disable Transmit buffers change to 128 Descriptors are data segments that enable the adapter to track transmit packets in the system memory. wifi may have far less options, especially a USB, but the same options apply. ============================================================================================================ After a fresh game install the install folder will likely be a complete mess and mostly results in approx' 25% fragmention. start right clean and organized. If your using only wifi, , that may require slight changes to the router Especially guard interval 11n "short" smaller = higher transmission efficiency, Larger= Higher anti-interference capability. Inside small is best, across structures such as out to the garage large interval is best option. The above settings are common for a gaming set up and may not apply in a network context. In my opinion most issues with games can be solved by disabling IPV 6 (TCP[IPv6), After 31 years of fixing windows/mac machines, 90% of the time it isn't the software, it's all the bloatware , default windows networking, browser app's running in the background when they should be never left on when your not using, lately we've seen machines with nearly 200 processes running that is crazy to our minds. DM me if you got any questions I may be slow to respond at times, its far better to have a live chat so I can specifically target issues quickly.
Darksider Posted Friday at 09:11 PM Author Posted Friday at 09:11 PM This crashing business started happening since the February update. When I do a full regedit fix/replace, and then reinstall, I get a statement saying this is either corrupted or missing: assets/issue24/stage1c.pigg Then it gives me a chance to update, and when I do, then I can run the game. However, this fix lasts for about a day or two, then it goes back to crashing again. I am seeing if the latest delete mythic folder and reinstall will work. It appears I have one crash so far, so we shall see. Thanks

Game Master GM Crumpet Posted Saturday at 04:51 PM Game Master Posted Saturday at 04:51 PM Also a thought just came to me. Make sure your vidiotmaps is up to date. Old versions causes no end of problems that appear quite random.
Morbeux Posted Sunday at 02:39 PM Posted Sunday at 02:39 PM Haven't logged in since before the Anniversary update, but now I am also getting the random crashes (sending in reports when it happens for devs). So far did fresh installs of everything, drivers are at most compatible version (not upgrading to latest NVidia driver for 40/50x since they have so so many problems, so I am a version before). Since this is so random its hard to figure out a trigger for the cashes. Sometimes it during launch, sometimes when I zone, sometimes when I am chasing some Nemesis down the street. ....wait, is this a Nemesis plot?
Game Master GM Crumpet Posted Sunday at 03:35 PM Game Master Posted Sunday at 03:35 PM If you get the crash report pop up please send the full one with memory dump as it really does help Number six find out of there is something going on

Spoke to Number Six about your reports and he said to turn your shadows down to minimum
