Magimaster Posted Monday at 03:16 PM Posted Monday at 03:16 PM I've been tossing around an idea for a new ranged power set based off the Rocket Backpack of the IDF troopers. The idea is to utilize the backpack model they use, so as to reduce the amount of rigging that needs to be done as far as animations and costumes, since its already done for the NPCs. The only downside is that, similar to crab spiders, the backpack would be a forced costume item but that feels like a decent compromise. As far as powers: Tier 1 ) Missile Blast - Single Target - Light damage Tier 2 ) Missile Volley - Single Target - Moderate damage Tier 3 ) Missile Barrage - Targeted AoE - Moderate Damage Tier 4 ) Ammo Swap - Borrowing the Dual Pistols ammo mechanic Tier 5 ) Build Up - Standard damage boost Tier 6 ) Guided Missile - Single Target Sniper Attack - High or Superior damage Tier 7) Nerve Gas Rockets - Targeted AoE - High Damage + minor Hold chance Tier 8 ) EMP Rockets - Targeted AoE - Superior Damage + minor End/Regen drain Tier 9 ) Obliteration Salvo - Targeted AoE Nuke - Extreme Damage + Fire Patch The IDF troops missiles have split Lethal/Fire damage plus Minor Toxic Dot plus Knockdown chance which all seems too much for a player powerset. My thought would be to keep the player damage as split Lethal/Fire, which you can then customize with the Ammo Swap mechanic for more options plus some soft CC or added damage if the player wants. I thought about another attack in place of the Ammo Swap, maybe a Targeted AoE with Immobolize chance, but then slotting would be pretty tight with so many attacks, let alone any power pool picks and such the player may want, so the Ammo Swap power seemed like a good compromise. This leaves the set with 3 single target attacks , 3 targeted AoE attacks and the nuke which seems pretty balanced. Let me know what you think! 4 1
