Ukase Posted yesterday at 03:35 PM Posted yesterday at 03:35 PM I'm pretty sure I'm not the first one to consider this question, particularly with a lot of the better "signature" powers being available to take earlier in the build. I often use an alt to assist with the defeat requirements for the atlas medallion - specifically the vampyri and the wolves, or more commonly referred to as vamps and pups. Moonfire tf has the first two missions which are filled with these specifically, and respectfully - first one vamps, 2nd one pups. Any of my tanks can get in there and handle this at 0/8. But - obviously, some are going to be better at one or the other, and certainly some will be faster. Right now, I've got a fire/ice tank that generally does this. But, in some cases, those vamps load the -toHit to the point where I've got to gobble multiple yellows to overcome it. So, I got to thinking. And I'm still thinking. I thought, dark or psionic armor would certainly be better suited for this task. And Moonfire caps at 28, so footstomp at level 30 would be available. But, the resisting of damage isn't the issue, but the -tohit that is bugging me. Tactics is a thought, but that's just a 15% boost. All those vamps floor my tohit to about 60%. I read all the time about DDR, but that's usually in reference to defense reductions, not toHit reduction. Granted, if my defense stays high, I'm not as likely to get hit by the -toHit. I can certainly respec the fire/ice tank to load up on more accuracy set bonuses, and more defense, etc..but what would you folks suggest would be a more suitable armor to deal with the -tohit, given the character is exemplared to 28, and can't use any powers chosen after level 33? I can always just continue to use yellows; it works. Just annoying to deal with. I'd rather think my way out of this. I'm thinking dark/SS or psionic/SS at the moment.
Warshades Posted yesterday at 06:58 PM Posted yesterday at 06:58 PM (edited) I don't recall off the top of my head which armor set might have/give the most tohit debuff resistance, but very generally speaking, you'd benefit most from running a defensive armor set and soft capping your negative or positional defenses by lvl 30ish. One of the biggest reasons that defensive armor sets have such a big advantage is that fewer attacks land and thus you suffer from fewer debuffs, including -tohit. You could consider invuln as invincibility also provides a tohit buff as well and it should be easy to hit 45% negative def on a tank. Sets like SR and shield should also easily soft cap positional defense, the latter giving an excellent AoE that will help thin minions from mobs and greatly reduce the number of incoming attacks. With resist sets, I'd say your best bet is to try and thin the mobs as quickly as possible. Tactics can definitely help, but I'd prioritize using what AoEs/cones you have + build up to thin the mobs and reduce how many debuffs you're taking. If you've taken a lot, consider retreating around a corner somewhere to provide time for the debuffs to expire and allow them to clump up again. Edit: can also pop purple insps on resist armors so that you're soft capped to decrease the number of attacks/debuffs that land. You'd likely need far fewer purples to hit soft cap which the vampyrs don't debuff than you would need yellows to counteract massively stacked -tohit from their attacks. Uun Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The best source of tohit debuff resistance is Focused Accuracy, but that's not available until lvl 35 so wouldn't be usable for Moonfire. Dark Armor has 32% tohit debuff resistance in Obscure Sustenance and Regeneration has 20% in Ailment Resistance. Uuniverse
Hedgefund Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) When I do this (farm these 2 missions for a lowbie) I just grab whatever I have that has good aoe and that I'd like to run a couple of missions with. This could be a dominator, a tank, a brute, a blaster, anything that mows down masses. I certainly wouldn't make a build for this. That seems significantly more annoying (imo, of course) to do than simply entering the mission with 2 columns of yellows and 3 columns of purples. Edited 4 hours ago by Hedgefund
