Bleak Sun Posted September 7 Posted September 7 I searched, but none of the many pages of results were relevant, and restricting misinterpretation of the search criteria reduced the results to zero. I recently placed the base NPC "Midnighter Loremaster" in my base. Allegedly this NPC is a "trainer", which I took to mean you can interact with it to level up, change active build, and in some cases choose a title or correct the colors of the title you already have (don't get me started on that bug). I previously used the Vanguard NPC trainer in another base, and it works just fine. The Midnighter Loremaster, however, is broken. You can highlight it, but it is not interactive. It does not matter where you place it (near a wall, in the middle of open floor, etc.), when you click on it it becomes highlighted. And that's all. It is not interactive, the cursor is always a white or red arrow and never a blue hand, and it cannot be used like an object that meets the standard definition of "trainer". Workaround? Known issue? The NPC was placed three days ago, so yes, I have quit and relaunched, and quit and rebooted and relaunched, multiple times without any change in its total lack of functionality. I have also sold it and repurchased it without any change in the lack of functionality. I haven't tried either of the redside NPC trainers to see if they work at all.
sponazgul Posted September 7 Posted September 7 That’s weird! I have placed a Loremaster in more than one base, they’ve all worked.
lemming Posted September 7 Posted September 7 Thought maybe it could be because of Praetorian which does affect the Icon base item, but that doesn't seem to be the case for the Loremaster. I tend to use them for my base trainers. Not sure what state would cause that. I assume you tried other characters to see if you got a dialogue? Did you put him away from other items to make sure it's not interference from another item?
Retired Community Rep Dacy Posted September 7 Retired Community Rep Posted September 7 I accessed the Loremaster with both a hero and villain, and it worked with no problems; I cannot seem to duplicate your bug. I've since deleted the Loremaster, let me replace it and try a different character. I also added a new room and placed it in the middle with nothing else in the room, and no difference, but I'll try all that again and report back.

May I come see? Do you need an access code for that? If I ever created one, it's long forgotten. I can go through paper notes to try to find it, or generate a new one if that's possible. Like I responded to lemming, I'll have to repurchase the Loremaster again and try another toon, plus add a new room again and see if it works there for another toon. I'll report back when I finish that. It's not possible right now.
Retired Community Rep Dacy Posted September 10 Retired Community Rep Posted September 10 It's easy to recreate the code if you forgot it. Just type /sgpasscode and then the word you want associated with the number it gives. The number will always be the same, so it's likely you'd create the same code you did, if you created one before. Most people use part or all of their base name. I asked on the Builder's Discord, and of the hundreds of builders there, none had experienced this. Sometimes bases give you weird and unique errors, so this could be that, but hard to tell from out here. 🙂 -Dacy Retired CR Active Base Advocate Video base building tutorials here! I thought you couldn't get inside someone else's base without a code with one exception... if you're on a team with the base owner and use a SG portal to access? I think they just don't remember the code to give it to someone else since they mention placing the Loremaster, so they have edit privilege. You can also enter bases that are in your coalition. (And trainers, etc... are all accessible then. Well, by my experience...)
Marine X Posted September 15 Posted September 15 I have placed a Midnighter Loremaster in my base as a test. Seems to work as intended. I also have a Vanguard Trainer and it is still functional as well. Tried placing a second Midnighter LM in Entrance room and it works as well, all three at the same time. Not sure what is up but whatever it is, is specific to your base or shard, My tests were on my bases on Reunion and Excelsior. I also created a new toon on Reunion, created a SG and SG base, and was able to place a Midnighter LM and Vanguard Trainer in the raw base and they worked as intended. What Shard are you on? What room are you placing the NPC in? Does the Vanguard Trainer work if placed? " When it's too tough for everyone else, it's just right for me..." ( Unless it's Raining, or Cold, or Really Dirty or there are Sappers, Man I hate those Guys...) Marine X
Bleak Sun Posted yesterday at 07:46 PM Author Posted yesterday at 07:46 PM Sorry for the delayed response, several real life crises. I eventually got it placed, but I had to (1) use a different character, and (2) unlike the Vanguard trainer, the Loremaster cannot apparently be placed anywhere near a doorway or in a room smaller than 2x2. The Vanguard trainer I placed in a doorway and it's perfectly happy there (although technically it's halfway in the room and only halfway in the doorway). The Loremaster could not even be placed on the same wall as a doorway, so I ended up putting it in the center of the room. It would not work at all in a 1x2 or 1x1. Thanks for the help. Still looks bugged to me. 1
Retired Community Rep Dacy Posted 23 hours ago Retired Community Rep Posted 23 hours ago Okay, I didn't realize that the room size was the relevant factor, and wouldn't you know it, I didn't test for that. Bad Dacy! You are absolutely correct, that sounds very buggy. If you have not already, please report it in bugs, and I'll put it on the builder's Discord as a known issue. Thank you for not only figuring that out, but calling it out! -Dacy Retired CR Active Base Advocate Video base building tutorials here! Want to join the Base Builder's Discord? lemming Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Interesting. I haven't gone below 2x2 for my "Cram everything into one room" bases. The more you know 1
