sponazgul Posted Wednesday at 01:47 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:47 PM (edited) I am skeptical that double-xp is actually active at the moment, contrary to what is advertised. My characters are consistently earning experience in even increments and odd increments, when it should all be even increments (since double a number guarantees it would be an even number.) My characters demonstrating this result are soloing, and I don’t have the START vendor double XP on (which can produce odd numbers since global double XP and START vendor double XP ends up being triple-XP) I guess I would like confirmation that double XP is on, and a reason why I see experience point earnings that aren’t even-increment numbers. lemming Posted Wednesday at 02:58 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:58 PM XP from anything is never an integer until it's awarded. Simple explanation: 2.5 * 2 = 5 Longer explanation will have to wait for coffee, but there is more than the +100% from this usually factored in.

Fair, but before Tuesday during double XP, all the experience I was seeing was an even integer. If experience has fractional values, then I accept that explanation and maybe I didn't notice odd values. Although I am looking forward to the post-caffeine longer explanation.
sponazgul Posted Wednesday at 07:59 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 07:59 PM WAIT. I think I figured it out. I was forgetting about Patrol XP adding half XP, which is going to mess up the calculations. 1

Hmm, thought I had found the formula (or at least the various parts), but didn't find it. (I think it's multi-step anyway) The basics are: Entity gets defeated and is worth X amount. However, X gets modified by different modifiers including a scale based on enemy group. (Such as freakshow being worth a little less because they rez, Halloween Elites being worth more), whether you are on a team or not, level difference, and then all the various bonuses including the +100% that is currently offered. When on teams, you get a boost, but then the total is divided amongst the team. So, there's a bit of math involved before it finally gets turned into a displayed integer in the "You gain Z experience..." and I think there's several multipliers and dividers, so there's always going to be some bits trimmed off. Various added boosts are: START Vendor Experience Booster: 25,50, or 100% Patrol XP gets used up until gone as a 50% Defeating the Seed of Hamidon gives a 15% for 30 minutes (And Inf) Mobs defeated in the Labyrinth of Fog give an additional 25% XP and Inf
biostem Posted Wednesday at 10:34 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:34 PM Clearly the game has gone to the americans, and the banner statement about double XP is a ploy to tricks the jerk-hackers... 1
sponazgul Posted yesterday at 02:49 AM Author Posted yesterday at 02:49 AM After I burned through all my patrol xp on the character I was testing with, all the experience earned after that was an even integer, which implies double xp is in effect and it doubles the experience earned after all the math machinations based on enemy level adjustments. I was soloing, so there was no team division/boosts happening. I think the odd numbers I was seeing in earned experience previously was because of patrol xp.
