Hello Mathpers

I was trying to "do my own build" like I did on live years ago but my brain is definytely not what it was ! 

 

I'm struggling to cap def (positional 45%, right?) but I hit a wall over an over.

Also Im not exactly sure how much damage are procs VS enhencements. Not sure whats the impact of enhencing this or that of certain abilities... I am lost!

 

That was I was so far, its a shame...

Your defense debuff resistance is so low that I think chasing defense cap is a losing game.  I think this is the core of your frustration.  Personally, I would chase pure resistance, and regen/absorb.  Your blue bar is apparently suffering greatly as well, and the plethora of recharge in this build won't help you.

 

Devour Psyche is your best friend (although inconveniently a cone).  You can max out it's target cap simply by re-applying it to even just one badguy.  It deserves more slotting with a focus on health and recharge.

 

As far as what damage is from procs: Right-click the power, and select the Info tab.  The Damage window will give you a breakdown of where the damage comes from.  I believe the default shows you the average damage to account for when the proc doesn't go off.

 

The good news is that Axe/Psi look like a really nice pairing.  There is a whole lot of potential here... an optimized build would make this character a beast.  It's also good that you had a direction, and found pathways to get where you wanted to go.  I just think that direction is a bit flawed.

 

Do you have any interest in build examples that don't bother with the 45% defense softcap?

Positional Def cap is also rather difficult to do unless the set is naturally build for it. Typed Def would likely get better results. Since Psy's mitigation is mixed, you won't have that great of  DDR. From what I have seen people focus on Res.

I love Psi Armor, but the set's not really a defense set.  It has one defense power, that only covers 2 positions (Melee and Range) when not stealthed.

 

Aura of Insanity is your real defense and I'd slot that with ACC/MEZ HO's (2 or 3 of them) as the MEZ makes the mag (not the duration) of the mez stronger.  I'd also put the Purple Confuse Proc in there.

 

I'd also put the Cupid's Crush Confuse Proc (if not set) somewhere in the build.

 

While not Axe/Psi, here's my EM/Psi Build I use.  If I wasn't using the Cupid's Crush set in Bone Smasher, I'd put that Proc in Aura of Insanity.  Which, an earlier build of mine did have the full Cupid's Crush set in Aura of Insanity, and it did well, but I wanted the purple proc in there.

 

You going Axe, I'd maybe put the Cupid's Crush Set (or just Proc) in Pendulum.  It's an AOE attack so you cover more ground on getting enemies confused.  Stacks nicely with AoI.

 

Devour Psyche being a cone is no issue really.  Easy to get and maintain the stacks even with it's cone.  Barrier can be a little more annoying to keep stacked up, but it does give 20% Slow Resist and that stacks for 60% with it's 3 stacks.  When I can, I like to get it on my Psi Armors where I only need to get 2 stacks for 100% Slow Resist (if you hit 100% slow resist, you won't be slowed at all).

On my Axe/Bio brute I put the Cupid's Crush set in Axe Cyclone and get good results. It has a larger radius and higher target cap than Pendulum.

There is enough in the initial build that doesn't align with my own approach(*1), that I'm just going to toss out a few ideas. I agree with the other assessments about Res v. Positional defenses (which may or may not even be worth chasing depending on content being played).

 

I'm not crazy about the (delayed) power picks for 41+, or the slotting. Build Up should not be a level 49 pick for a Scrapper.

 

I really like Combat Teleport when used with Axe.

 

(*1) Grabbing Hasten, a travel power, and 3 powers from the Fighting pool by level 22 is IMO something of an 'old school' thinking, as is multiple attacks from the Epic/Patron.  You could take any four of those powers and use something like the Force of Will pool to get a travel power, one/two ranged attacks (or a ST debuff), and a self-buff like Unleash Potential and I think performance would be improved... and you could still take a patron snipe if desired.

*face palm*  Forgot about that power because I was thinking the purple set in there, when it really should be in Pendulum.  Yup.  I'd put it in Cyclone.  Best place for it, agreed.
