I am a returning player that came back only to find that the Chat-tabs system is a little different now. So I'm not sure what other tabs I have to add in order to play properly. Can anyone let me know what other tabs I should add? These are my current chat tabs that I have. "Priv" is for private chats.

What chat tabs you use is pretty much determined by what messages you want to see for your purposes. For example, if you were testing out damage powers you’d probably want a tab that has “combat” and “system” in it. Because of the amount of testing I do, I have a tab with just “system” in it. i also have a tab just for NPC dialogue (I often miss what the NPCs are saying, so a tab to quickly check that has been useful). I have added almost all the chat channels except “combat” to my Global tab.

On the bottom chat window I have 3 tabs:

Chat, Mission Architect, and Arena. Mission Architect and Arena are the only server-wide chat channels that aren’t on the bottom bar or included in any other chat tab. I also added these channels to my Chat tab.

Oh,ok. Recently I was in a team and saw my other team members chatting and my chat tabs showed [Team] before the teammates name and then to the right of the name, there would be what they typed/said but when I added a tab called "Team" next to the other chat tabs, what I typed never appeared in the Team tab on the game screen l. It's as if I never typed/said anything at all. Do you know what could be the reason and how do I fix that? Thanks in advance.

Fortunately I never joined anyone in any DFB or there would have been a serious problem.

The chat window has 2 fields or boxes, both of which can contain tabs.

The top field is only to VIEW messages from various chat channels (Global, Combat, etc).

The bottom field can be used to both VIEW and SEND messages to whichever chat channel or tab is selected (Chat, etc).

Yes. I used the one way at the bottom of your pic that says "Team". I typed out what I meant to say and the words all came out but as soon as I hit "Enter", no words appeared in  the Team section that is only for viewing as you mentioned.  The Team tab is the only one I have a problem with. All the other tabs work fine as I just type out sentences and press "Enter" and they all appear be it Private or Local etc.

That box with “Team” in it is called the Chat Line, command line, or at bare minimum the input box. At the top of the chat line are very small, individual letters. Each letter corresponds to a different chat channel. Click on a letter to select the desired chat channel you wish to send a message to. The chat channel that you have currently selected will appear in the chat line box. So in my pic above, the “Team” chat channel is selected.

I misspoke about the chat tabs. All tabs regardless of which field they are in will select a chat channel and allow you to send a message to that channel.

Can you tell me which chat channel you were attempting to send a message to and what tab you had selected when you tried to send that message?

Honestly, I play most of the time with just the "help" tab.

I have added /lfg and events channels to it (and maybe /b if that isn't default).

That seems to cover pretty much all communication I need to see in the upper panel.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.

If I may ask, and in hopes the answer will help me understand similar problems in the future, what exactly did the problem turn out to be?

I had to Edit the tab so that the next screen that shows up,one with an empty box on the left next to the box with a listing of all the tab names you want to make.  I was thinking that just creating a new tab would be just fine but actually I had to Add Tab instead of just creating the tab. Something like that. Can't really remember the names of the buttons I must press.

Ah, cool. Coincidentally, that was going to be my next suggestion. Glad you figured it out. LOL

Also, since you’re new to the game, here’s a copy of the original game manual that you might find helpful  https://homecoming.wiki/w/images/8/80/CoH_Manual_2004-2009.pdf
